I guess I have always been confused when someone says 'I'm talking to him, but we aren't together yet...' I guess because I have always been friends with the guys I have dated first.
So, what is the difference between 'talking' to a guy - and being 'friends'?

Talking=flirting and seeing what you can get from it.
Friends= maybe friends, maybe more

Oh God there are so many stages! I would say that someone you are just talking with is someone you have allot in common with, but there is really no way you can get together romantically. Sort of, like allot of my Internet people. Allot of them are women, interesting, sweet, smart, and completely loyal and I love em all! A friend to me (opposite sex anyway) is someone that I could get into a relationship if I weren't married. But I am, so I have to watch that kind of stuff. There is a gray line here unfortunately. I've lost allot of acquittance's because they wanted me to cross that line. Sorry, can't do that usually = loss of that acquittance.

Talking to a guy means just that - it's a surface level talking; i.e., how are you, how's the weather, did you see the news? Nothing deep like your love life, your real issue in life, etc.
Being friends - means you can confide in the persons. You can bring the problems or whatever hidden issues and talk to them.

it depends on who they are talking to...if a potential date is asking "whats up with so and so."..the response is "oh we're just friends" leaving the door wide open for oppurtunity.but if a potential threat and or competition asks,then its "yea we're talking"...
in your own personal case...i think you know what you mean when you tell people whats the deal and with who so just apply it when you're being given the same info

when somebody says is talking to another person but theyre not toghether yet it means they like each other but its nothing serious yet. but if they say they're friends, they're friends.

i don't understand the question...i talk to all my guy friends and i talk to my boyfriends...so what exactly to u mean....I'm confused
