One way or another, yes. The military does employee some civilians in the medical field BUT the are government contract employees. I work on a National Guard Post that mobilizes soldiers. We have multiple civilians employed, including in the medical field. They are not direct government employees that receive all of the full benefits, but the are considered government contractors. Honestly, there is a HUGE demand for nurses in the civilian sector right now and you would probably have better luck in the long run there.

No, you would have to work for a company that is contracted to the government. So in essence, you would be a Department of Defense contractor.....but not directly employed by the government. I do not believe that there is a need for civilian nurses as the base hospitals and clinics are staffed by the military. The contractors hire paramedics with remote experience for their medical clinics, but I haven't heard of them hiring nurses.......at least not yet. Have a great day and best of luck to you.

No you will not, but you will be considered a contractor, if you worked for a company that works with the government. If you enlisted in the Military then you would work for the government, if you worked for a contracting company you would work with the government.
