Do you think it is more sophisticated than other brands?
If you have to name the following brands from low to high, how would you name it?
Tesco
Waitrose
Selfridges
M&S
Sainsbury's
Asda
Somerfield

Waitrose and M&S at the top, they're more pricey and appeal to more discerning customers (they like to think).
then Selfridges, their food isn't that great actually
Sainsburys and Tescos are about the same, very good.
Asda and Somerfield, budget items although Asda's own brand stuff is pretty good.
It's all to do with image, look at their advertising. M&S appeal to yuppies and young professionals and Asda goes for the working mum.

I have lived abroad for 8 years and without doubt Marks and Spencers is the convenience food I miss the most. For quality it is in a different league to supermarkets
