In the interim, try to remind him to concentrate on his food and make sure to prepare it so its small bites.
As soon as you're able to, contact the American Red Cross and learn CPR. It could save his or someone else's life! You'll learn, among other things, the Heimlich maneuver to rescue people from choking.

Ok- to the people above: DO NOT hit the back. No chest compressions unless he's unconscious.
She's said her brother is not an infant. Why on earth would you do infant choking treatment on anyone who is not an infant.
So anyway- your brother is probably aspirating small amounts of liquid from the soup. But, if he ever actually chokes again, it would be good if you were prepared for it!
Choking procedure is now known as "abdominal thrusts" because of lawsuits (yes, the lawsuits were real. Yes, royalties are now due if we call it the old name in writing or during a class), but the procedure remains the same. The landmarking has changed though.
Standing behind the person, find the top of their hip bones. Place your hands, fingers forward, palms up to the ceiling, on the top of their hips.
Slide your hands around to the front, to the center of the stomach.
Make one hand into a flat fist (your thumb shouldn't be on top of your pointer finger), and roll the fist up so that the pointer finger/thumb section is flush (flat) against the body. Put your other hand over the back of the fist.
Pull your hands quickly in and up towards you- in a stroke that looks like a "J"
You continue doing the J thrusts until the piece that the person is choking on flies out, or they go unconscious.
That said- nothing beats being able to be guided through this and practicing! You aren't too young to take a first aid class! And I would think you owe that to your brother if you are taking care of him!
Go take a first aid course- standard or emergency- with either Red Cross or Lifesaving society. Their programs are the best out there!
Good luck, and I hope this helps.

Your brother is luck guy that you're at home helping him!! I would definitely see if you and your parents could take an American Heart CPR course. It gives you a lot of great information.
Choking is really scary... but a choking person won't be able to cough or talk. If it's truly choking, it will cut off all the air.
However, if he was eating SOUP, it sounds more like he aspirated some of the liquid into his lungs (when he started laughing) which can cause violent coughing. It's really common with thin liquids like soup, milk, juice... things like that. If your parents aren't in the house, you might want to stick with thicker liquids or foods that are a thicker consistency - pudding, apple sauce.
If you or your parents notice that he's aspirating a lot of thin liquids that you give him, go to a speech pathologist and they can take cool videos of him swallowing to see if he might need treatment.
Good luck!!

The Heimlich Maneuver. If I remember correctly,
1. Five abdominal thrusts. Right below the belly button. He must be standing to do this, so, lift him up, and rest him against you while you do the abdominal thrusts. You could probably find it online. Just search for what I mentioned.
2. Five back hits -- right between the shoulder blades. Use just the base of your hand - the hardest part of your hand, right above your wrist. Bend your hand back all the way (palm up). Do not slap his back, hit it with the hard part. It may sound cruel, but giving him a few bruises is better than choking to death.
*WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT PUSH RIGHT BELOW THE BREAST BONE!!!!!* Do not do what the person above me said to do!!!!
The xyphoid process (spelling sorry), which is a small bone, could break off into his lung. You have to push in the abdomen (right below the belly button) PLEASE do NOT go right below the breast bone, that is very dangerous.

I really hope this helps. : )

He did no longer choke, the protection did. you probably did comprehend in the process the three pastime "choke", the protection gave up 30, 30, and fifty two factors respectively, on an identical time as Cutler threw for over 750 yards over that span. what's Cutler meant do approximately that.

It would do you no harm to take a CPR course.Call the Fire Dept.,Hospital, Red Cross. One of them gives a course on CPR. I must admit that I am surprised at your parents..They should have had all family members take this course, considering the situation in your family..

If you can get him in your arms leaned over one arm and hit with the palm of you hand directly between his shoulder blades 5 times, if that doesn't work lay him on the floor and use the heel of your hand with the other diectly on top fingers interlaced and push down and up right below the breastbone 5 times.
