maybe the easy approach is not the best way/

First and most important thing to use when housebreaking a puppy is a crate. Now make sure you use a crate constructed totally of wire not the plastic travel crate. The puppy should be in the crate at all times unless you can totally have your eyes on him. If he whines while in the crate ignore him! If you go to him while he is whining it will not reassure him, it will teach him that all he has to do is whine and someone will come. Only go to him when he is quiet. When he is taken out of the crate he needs to be brought outside immediately. Use the same door everytime and bring him to the same place each time. If he is small enough to carry it is better to carry him to the pottying spot so he doesnt have an accident on the way. When he does eliminate praise him tremendously as if he just spoke to you in japanese. Giving him a small treat works wonders too not a biscuit, that takes too long to eat. a piece of hotdog or dog jerky treat works very well. The times a puppy will have to eliminate is: 1.when he comes out of his crate 2. 15-20 min after eating or drinking anything 3. When waking up from a nap 4. after playing and running.
If your puppy made a mistake in the house and you didnt see him make it its too late to punish he will have no idea that he did it. You have to catch him in the act and react at that time. Never ever call your puppy to you to punish him he will think he is being punished for coming to you and that could be dangerous if he decides to run into the street and wont come back when called. anyway the other thing that is very important when training is that you will have urine smell in your carpets and floors. It is very important to neutralize that odor or your dog will eliminate there again. A dog can smell 1 part urine in a million parts water so Resolve or Glory just wont work. Go to a pet store and get the odor neutralizer called Natures Miracle. When the puppy has an accident use the neutralizer on it. You see, with dogs when they smell urine it makes them feel like they have to eliminate. Just like us when we hear water running. above all dont get discouraged and dont EVER hit your puppy!!!! May take 30 days but it will work just follow those simple rules and you and your puppy will be much happier. Good Luck! P.S. The reason I said to use the same door every time is that you will start to notice your puppy hanging around that door when he has to eliminate. You can even go another step and hang a bell on the doorknob and find a way for him to ring it before you open the door possibly jumping up at it. He will figure it out trust me.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aMRXt

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Take the puppy outside frequently and and before you go to bed at night. Use the pads for times when you feel he cant get outside, such as when you are away from home for a couple of hours. Never and I do mean NEVER rub your dogs nose in urine or feces and never spank your puppy... they don't understand any of this. A positive approach is always best. Reward him with a dog cookie while you have him outside and he can relate that to what he has done. Dogs have a very short memory span but they always remember the positive aspects of potty training. hope this helps.

My dog did this she was really good some days not so good others. Most of the time she'd let us know she had to go out then there were times she for some reason would just squat and pee. We took her out when she woke up, after she ate or drank, every 1-2 hours, before bedtime and she was kennel trained, and after she and the other dog played for awhile. Then came summer and the new baby. We put them both outside in a kennel they stayed there all summer we brought them back in around end of September and she's not had on accident I think alot has to do with their bladder size.

Look to Cesar Milan. He does great w/ dogs. Oh, and when you aren't at home crate her. It's not cruel...it actually gives dogs a sense of security, and they do not like to potty in their living area. Also, when you have her out, have her on newspaper. If you can tell, everytime she has to go to the bathroom show her the way out, or if you don't have a doggydoor, take her out.

Wow you had troubles with your puppy peeing just like me. Well when my puppy pees in the house I scold him but I don't hurt him I just point my finger at him and say NO then put him in the backyard. That is working for me so far and don't worry is he is only 4 months old my puppy is almost a year old and still haveing problems.

Put it on a time table like you would do a child potty training. leave her/his food out and once every hour or 30 min take the puppy out side to got the the bathroom to get it use to going out side. Then stay outside until they go. Say things like go potty and use the same term every time they go outside so the get use to the words and every time they hear it they understand that that means go to the bathroom. Now this is time consuming because it can take a dog 10-15 min to smell out a spot to relive themselves but you need to stay out there until they go. You can try giving them a treat every time they go and praise there efforts until they get the potty training

well, what i do is when i leave the apartment i put both dogs in the kitchen and close the entrance off with a doggie gate(high gate). then when im home i walk both dogs many many times each day. i was reading that you should control when your dog eats. so like only leave the food bowel down at certain times each day and after your dog eats, walk it!!good luck

Well first things first remember your dog picks up and reacts on your emotions much like a little child may. I have found the easist way for me is to just take your puppy outside every20-30 minutes if its a young pup longer for older but especially after they wake and eat/drink or when you see the signs. until you get the response you want then praise praise praise. have a treat ready and tell him good boy. And when they actually do the act say good boy potty (and repeat it so they put the act and word together).... POTTY or whatever you want to call it. After a bit start asking it if it wants to go potty ask it in a happy playful voice and try and get a response....i.e. them barking going to the door.... that means they are getting it and they will remember to let you know they need to go. If you are cathcing him in the act startle (not scare) him so he will stop and talk him outside or to the papers right away and once again prasie and say good boy point so they can start to figure it out. If all else fails and you can't catch him in time look for the signs. pacing circling sniffing trying to hide from your veiw nudging you and you cant figure out why.... Even if they don't go to to potty when you think they are trying to tell you it is still a good thing you took them out. Hope this helps.

Rub her nose in the urine and take her outside to do her business.Take her out first thing every morning and when she goes praise her and give her treats. Also there is pads you can put on the floor until they get the hang of going outside. When she goes on the floor though make sure you take her outside immediately.Don't yell and scream or you will only scare them.
