They switch drivers on the team of 3, so there is never one driver driving for 24 hrs.,,also there are cars in different catagories as well. The race is run on a road course for 24 straight hrs. or as they say,"twice around the clock". Each winning team in the categories receive a Rolex watch, trophies, money, and of course bragging rights. On top of all that Rolex sponsors this race,, hence the name Rolex 24. Hope this helps a bit for you.

The Rolex 24 is a 24 hour endurance sports car race. Normally a driver will pilot a car for 2 to 3 hours and when they come in for fuel or tires, they will change drivers also. Catch some coverage if you can on SPEED. It makes much more sense when you can actually watch what is happening. I'd kinda like to see maybe a 6 or 8 hour endurance race for Nextel Cup cars, but driver swaps would be much more difficult. You could also find out more info at grand-am.com. There is live timing and scoring and all sorts of stuff to check out.

It is a race that lasts for 24 hours straight and the teams have usually 3 drivers that change in and out of the car. After 24 hours the leader of each class is the winner. The class depends on the type of car that u are running.

It's very simple. They don't all race at the same time. The race is 24 hours long. Therefore, the drivers drive the car in shifts. I don't know the exact break up, but after som many hours another driver takes over and so on.

It is made up of 2 classes of cars, Daytona Prototype and GT. Prototypes are the bigger faster cars, GT's are like Porshe street cars. It is a 24 hour race, so to avoid fight fatigue there are 3-4 drivers and they take turns or "stints" to keep each driver as fresh and awake as possible. Typically a driver will drive 2 stints at a time but they may only do 1.
