if you are not willing to treat it-yes eventually. if the dog does not seem to be in pain or uncomfortable-wait until it is necessary to put the dog down.

All the treatment in the world will only make the animals remaining days sicker and no better for it.
The wee thing is in pain. It will be for the rest of it's life whether you treat the cancer or not.
It only has one life.As you are the steward of this animal then you have to make the decision. Does it live in pain till it dies? Or do you give it all the happiness it can handle till the cancer overcomes all of it's life.
Pick a date depending on how far the disease has gone and decide when to put the wee creature down. If the disease is too far advanced then relieve the pain quickly give it over to the grave. If the animal is in the early stages then by all means make the last days happy and juicy. When the pain is too much take it out of it's misery.
I wish you well in your decisions.

The biggest thing to think about is quality of life. If your dog is doing ok otherwise and does not appear to be in pain and is still eating and drinking then there really is no reason to put it down.

If your dog has more bad days than good days then you might want to consider it. Also, get your vets opinion on this matter. We do not know medically what all is going on with your dog right now.

First of all is your dog suffering or does he have fairly good quality of life left. If your dog does I would wait so you and your dog can spend some special moments before he/she passes. I did have an animal that was in so much pain I put her down. It was very hard but It was harder seeing her suffer. Above all make a decision that you can live with and that you can look back and say I did what was best for me and my dog.

If you can not afford the treatment ( and the treatments are very very expensive, painfull for the animal, and not guaranteed to even "cure" the sick dog or extend life without suffering ) or the dog is suffering or in pain..

I would have him "put down" to avoid any suffering..

This is a very hard situation you have on your hands..I know you love your dog and he loves you back. You need to sit down and seriously think about all aspects of the situation and the possible outcomes..
I am orry to hear that this has happened and you have my deepest sympathy.

Having lost 2 dogs to cancer, there were many factors involved in our decision that I offer you to consider. First and most important, is your dog suffering? Is the cancer aggressive or curable? Are you able to afford any medical treatment that may ease discomfort and prolong life without hindering the quality of life? It's an extremely difficult decision. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your dog.

That is something you and your vet should discuss together.

The main goal for you as a pet owner is to provide quality of life to your pet. Quality of life is, eating and drinking normally, no pain (or pain controll), dog that still has intrest in his activies (going for walks, tricks, toys etc - anything that your dog normally enjoys doing), and your pets happiness ( gets up to greet you, wagging tail).

If your pet shows none of these quality of life behaivors, its probably your pets way of telling you its time to go or let go. Its not a decision that it reached lightly, it takes a lot to really think of the pros and cons.

Ultimately you make the euthanasia decsion to end his suffering, and its something that nobody can rush you into to doing, only you at your pace can make that choice on your own terms to really feel comfortable about your choice.

Cancer really is a nasty disease. I'm sorry your pet has been diagnosed with cancer.

Consider, whole heartedly the quality of life your pet is living, and go from there.

I wish you and you dog well.

I don't believe I would until it hurts the dog. (His quality of life suffers and he is in pain) Talk to a reputable vet and I think you'll get the same answer. I don't believe in getting those treatments, they are painful for the dog and don't work most times. If and when the dogs in pain and his quality of life is bad, yes put him down, but not until. He loves you and trusts you to do the right thing for him as you love him.

Even though it will be sad, it is the best thing for him. It will put him out of his pain, and he can go to a better place. I'm sure he has had a great life, but all lifes have to end at some point. I am very sorry to here your dog is sick, I am a dog lover. hes in my thoughts.

That depends on the type of cancer, how fast this particular type spreads and where it is located? Not all cancers are deadly, some dogs can live quite normally for month even years with treatment.

There are several answers.....

If the dog is in pain....yes

If you can't afford treatment....yes

If its terminal.....yes

If you answer "no" to any of those questions, then look into alternative methods of treatment to make the dog comfortable and happy. Just try not to be selfish, and keep the dog alive for your own happiness. Dogs have dignity, too, and should not be put through pain and suffering because we as humans are too selfish to let them go.

Hope this helps....sorry for your dog.
