Firstly if you "had" to convert - there is no point as you wont believe it anyway. I'm Catholic by name only because I was born in Ireland but have no real belief and prefer not to be a lemming.

Although organised religion has helped us build civilisations throughout history and gives many insecure, vain and fearful people hope and happiness it has also brought oppression, control, violence, and inhumanity. Your question sound like a "which is best" question. If this is the case there are many books written by many people that you could chose from. Why not worship the sun - don't rule it out just cause its not popular anymore - its no less valid than any other in my opinion.

If you are secure in your existence - cherish the world you live in as a wonderful place and accept your own mortality, enjoy your life and be good. Choose life.

"Had to convert" implies force. This would insure that I did not convert.

Second, I'm a spiritual person and believe that "organized religion" should not be followed. The crowd has a collective mentality. The intent of the individual is always in question.

Buddhism/Taoism is the closest I would get to choosing a religion to follow. This is because it focuses on inward peace and living by example.

A spiritual person embracing and embodying the spiritual attributes would do fine in any religion. The only one I would actually join, and have joined however is the Baha'i Faith with Baha'is Under the Provisions of the Covenant.

Religion is progressive and each of the Messengers brings a message that is more advanced than the last one.
Baha'u'llah is the last of the 9 Manifestations of God for the Adamic cycle. The other Messengers are Adam or Zadek, Moses, Krishna, Zoroaster, Buddha, Jesus, Muhammad and The Bab.

If you HAD to convert, would you have a choice? I mean, religion is supposed to be the meaning of your life. Forced conversions only change the outside of you.

If I were forced to conform to the practices of another faith (I'm sure I would not get to choose which one), my own beliefs would not be affected. I personally think God doesn't care what shape your prayer factory is or how you pose, hold your arms, or intone your hymns, so the liturgical aspects don't matter. I would cooperate in any community-building or charitable activities, but I would not participate in hate-driven, exclusionary or violent activities.

Wow, this is a fine way to showcase one's prejudices. A regular forum for social attacks.

I would never convert to nor follow any religion.

10 years ago I was converted to Christianity. I had been resisting God and had turned my back on religion, yet God met with me when I earnestly began to seek him and to repent and ask for forgiveness. I discovered what Jesus did for us, why he died and was resurrected, and met with him as my risen Lord and Saviour.

There is one religion I would never follow, however. It's a sect within Christianity who claim to be Christian but do not understand who Christ is. They also fail to realise that salvation is a gift and cannot be earned by works which is why they have to go round knocking on doors to convert others. They also have to give total obedience to the governing body who tell them what to believe and what to do. If they disagree and leave, they will be shunned by family and friends. I'm talking about Jehovah's Witnesses. Not that I have anything against them personally - they are decent, honest, upright and sincere people. It's just that they have been seriously misled and bear all the hallmarks of a cult. (Cries of outrage about to hit this site!)

I actually know what I'm talking about, because I was brought up as a JW but managed to escape their clutches and influence.

I could believe strongly in god but I personally also believe that most religions are simply about politics so i could not follow any religion. i've tried many in the past but went in a full circle. Look to the source but avoid any man made associations with it.
