I am so amazed....In my church I have seem so many of the most hetrosexual men who have zero problems with me being gay........yet I have found many times that the homophobic man is really fighting his own thoughts of being gay

Thats usually the case.People all react different it must be hard coming to terms with something you do not want to be.
