Well, I hurt my knee in gym class. It was red, swollen, and i couldn't walk on it. I went to a doctor and he said i might have sprained my ligament inmy knee. So I went ot the orthapidic. He took x-rays but not an MRI. Can you tell a ligament injury from a x-ray? He just sent me home and said 2 rest. So now 2 weeks have gone bye and it still hurts and I can only put little pressure on it. I have done RICE. What should I do?
A. Go back 2 the orthapidic and get an MRI
B.Go back to my original doctor
C. Get crutches and do more RICE
D. Get a Brace and see what happens
E. Go to a different orthapideic and see what he think
What would you do in my case?

You do not need am MRI. You can see the damage on an x-ray. Call your doctor and see what is said. Do not do anything else since you might prolong to lealing time. If you did RICE, you should be okay. I had the same thing happen and it was on crutches for 3 weeks. And limping without them for another 2. Then it took another month to get me back to running and other hard exercise. They are bad injuries.

I would say E. It was not very responisible for them to just have an x-ray. That is for bones not ligaments. I hurt my knee playing b-ball and it is definitely something to worry about, you have so much in there thats easy to tear and etc. You need to have it looked at again, especially if it still hurts like it did originally or if it's swollen because there could be fluid in your knee that needs to be removed. Knee injuries could also affect your future, you can get things like arthritis so please go back and just have it checked out again by someone else. Besides two opinons is always better than one. Good Luck

I would recommend that you try talking your current orthopedic doctor about the pain you are still have and request a MRI. If he does not agree with your request for an MRI, I would go to a different orthopedic doctor and see what they recommend.
Worse case scenario, your second may agree with your first doctor or he may see things a little different.
Just try. Good luck!!

Go back to your doctor and says it still hurts. BUt, still buy the brace and crutches. Here's what you should do. Rub lotion on it. Wrap that wrap thingy on it. Put on the brace. Wear crutches. Go to your doctor. Ask him what 2 do.

A. Hes the specialist and he knows how long a "normal" injury should take to heal. If you are taking too long to heal, he will know to do the MRI.

I would soak in hot Epsom salts water for twenty minutes then ice for twenty minutes twice a day. after 2-3 days if it is not better go back to your doctor.

E. It is always good to get a second opinion in medicine if the injury is still bothering you.

I would either B. go back to my original doctor or E. go to a different orthapedic and see what he thinks.
