Amazing how you 'Loving Christians' can turn it around like that. I have no problem at all with gays, end of story, you are the ones frothing at the mouth and bringing it up endlessly.

It is my belief, that Atheist embrace the idea that your personal religious view should not be national policy.
Discrimination is one of the most important issues on "the radar"
Why are you so in to preaching hate against gays?
Gays have never had it so good? Really? So you are saying that gay people get to enjoy the same rights as anyone?
You spout a lot of pseudo-facts, can you back them up? Put your data where your "mouth" is.

It is not their sex lives I want to defend from overly-exuberant Christians intent on making the U.S. a theocracy. I will fight for civil rights, not sex-rights. I want equality, to a decent extent, and frankly, that is the most American thing to want for others and yourself. All people are oppressed to some extent, and gays make up 3-5% of the population, and so yes, their cause should be our cause. Christians can damn me all they want, however I rest assured knowing I likely have a better track record as far as morality goes than most. I am not "programmed" to defend gay-rights any more than I am programmed to defend the rights of blacks, it just comes naturally with an empathetic heart and a sense of right and wrong.
P.S.- I'm not a "fornicator", and It seems odd you would bring that up. Got something to feel guilty about?

Because people that preach hate based on religion won't stop with others.
Most atheists in the US have a habit of standing up for what they consider right - it's called ethics.
I defend others when people like you attack them because if I don't I know I'll be the one attacked next.
Why are you so G_O_D__ D_A_M_N_E_D interested in JUDGING them. Christ said "He who is without sin, cast the first stone". When you die, what is going to be your excuse for trying to do god's job and judge others?
They are not oppressed???? I know several people who were fired for being gay. How many christians do you know that have been fired for being christian? How about your children taken away. How about paying more taxes because you can't get married to the people you love. How about not being able to visit a loved one in the ICU because you're not a blood relative or a spouse and the law won't let you be a spouse.

You are so weird. First I of all you know it's not just atheists who 'take up' for gay people. I don't care what 'Christians' say about me since they aren't trying keep or pass laws that atheists shouldn't have the right to get married or be allowed to adopt children. No one cares who the Christians are 'damning', it's a civil rights issue rather than mudslinging contest.

Maybe Christians need to go get crooked.
I dont think its necessarily the gay issue. I think the issue at hand is...Chrisitans obviously dont want the goverment interfering in the church, or their right to religious freedom, then why in the hell do christians think that its right for them to nosy on up into the goverment. Why are they so concerned in what other people do as being immoral? stating things like "america is going to hell in a handbasket" or "we need to put god back in our court system"...oh yeah so we can have a great big rerun of the way it was when puritans ran everything??...and GREAT let america, along with most of the world burn in hell. At least it was our decision!
once again, if you want the world to be more like you and be "christian" than why dont you guys start being more like the type of people I and the rest of the "non christian" world want to be around first? lead by example not by running your mouth!
i think this cartoon sums it up best

I am a deist. I will tell you why it means so much to me.
I had a dear friend for 34 years who was a lesbian. She came out to me when we were in our early 20's. I was surprised to say the least. She had been afraid to tell me for years and I told her that after all we had been through it did not matter to me who she was attracted to. We remained dear friends until she died of breast cancer when we were 46. It is because of her that I fight so hard for gay rights. It is because of her that it matters so much to me.
The whole point I always only intend to make is if you are against homosexuals that is your right. You do not have the right to force you opinions of anyone though our laws. If 2 women want to get married it has no affect on you at all. So mind your own business.

Wow. You have problems! I don't care if you damn me, gays, and everyone else! You know why? Because there is no hell!!
OH, and gays are overrepresented and publicized because it is now acceptable to be different. In the past, there were gay people, but they were never mentioned because it was taboo. While some people accept homosexuality, there are so many like you still out there!

I am rather curious as to where you get the assumption that atheists have embraced certain people's sex lives as being important.
I think that what you are seeing is a response to numerous posts from the religious camp condemning gays to hell.
Why not have a look at that beam in your own eye?

This same attitude existed in the 1950's and 60's, only it was against black people. Do you also hate black people? The Book of Mormon says that dark-skinned people are hated by God, and the Ku Klux Klan advertise their extreme Christian faith, so do you still hate blacks?
If not, then you need to realize that the negative attitudes towards black people have changed as ignorance dwindled and that sooner or later the same will happen with homosexuality. Gays WILL be accepted by the rest of society, and they don't affect my life or yours, so why are you still so anti-gay? Perhaps you should put your nose back in your bible and follow Leviticus 19:18 instead
"Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD."
Your hatred serves no purpose, and it's just as logical to publicly lambaste people who wear wool and linen together (God has a fashion sense?).
Leviticus 19:19 "...neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee."
You CHOOSE which bible verses you want to follow, so by choosing to hate homosexuals, you must realize that the hatred comes from within you, not because God actually hates gays.

***rolls eyes*** every single day there is post after post of Fundy Christians whining about how "persecuted" they are. Christians sit atop the American social food chain, seek to install their dogma as law of our secular country, seek to shove myth into public school science class, seek to control the wombs of women and seek to keep gay American citizens from realizing their rights and yet here you sit complaining about contrived issues, issues Fundy Christians contrive. if self righteous Fundy Christians would simply keep their busybody noses out of the private lives of strangers our country would be far less in turmoil.
Fundy Christians need to GROW UP. the whole frigging world does not revolve around them and their hypocritical "morality" agenda.
