If we take the scriptures as....er...gospel, Jesus was a Jew who was trying to reform Judiasm, not start a new religion. He never declared himelf to be God - that would have been the utmost blasphemy.
What we know as Chirstianity today was indeed, founded by Paul.
One should really say "invented" rather than founded, though.
It was Paul who introduced ideas from Pagan mystery religions into the story of Jesus and the practices of the reformed Judiasm that Jesus' direct followers practiced.
BTW, Paul wasn't an apostle. There were 12 of them, and they were:
Simon, called Peter;
Andrew: brother of Peter;
James and John, sons of Zebedee;
Philip from Bethsaida;
Bartholomew;
Thomas, aka Judas Thomas Didymus;
James "the Less", son of Alphaeus;
Matthew, the tax collector;
Simon the Canaanite;
Judas Iscariot; (replaced as an apostle in Acts by Matthias);
and a 12th - variously called Thaddeus, Lebbaeus, "Judas the Zealot", or "Judas the brother of James"

Christ was the Rock upon which the Christian church was built. Before Paul, Peter and the other disciples taught of Christ. Apostle Paul did more to spread Christianity than all the other disciples. Jesus told Paul that Paul would suffer many things for the name of Jesus Christ and Paul did.

Paul was an apostle and follower of Jesus Christ and taught according to the same Gospel as all the rest of the writers of the the Gospels and was in agreement with the teachings of Jesus Christ and his Father.

No...it was a bunch of farm hands sitting around a fire trying to make sense of the world and death. This was the start of religion and Christianity. The founders made it up to give credence to their poor lives. It was a distraction then and it is now as well.

Christ is the Rock. Most scholars understood the rock to mean "the faith which thou hast now professed". Ultimately it is Jesus Himself who builds His church so that even the gates of Hades and all of the powers of evil will not be able to stop it.

In one way, yes. Because Paul told many non-Jews about Jesus and how we are to live according to His teaching.
