What is Homophobia?

If I condemn the behavior called lieing, am I a lieophobic. If I condemn the behavior called adultery, am I an adultophobic?

Its a new age term for anyone who doesn't condone homosexuality. If you believe the bibles stance on homosexuality, you would be politically incorrect according to the new age teachings. I have no respect for PC or new age.

Homophobia is an irrational fear of men. However some like to equate the term with a rational, godly condemnation of homosexual behavior, which obviously does not involve any fear nor any irrationality, and therefore is not a phobia.

There is no such thing. A phobia is an Unreasonable Fear of something. Calling Homosexual Behavior a Sin is not Fear, it is The TRUTH !

The Thought Police made up that word to vilify Christians who stand up for what The Bible says on this subject !

A weapon used against those who disagree with an unnatural lifestyle. Because they can not win by demonstrating it as normal, nor has it ever been normal in history or by any Nation or religion and because they are having a hard time trying to impose it by law (forced by judges rather then the vote of the people) they resort to distortion of the facts with name calling. I have never seen a homophobic in my life.

Nope. You are confusing two different things.
Homophobia, is really the fear of being around gays.
Not accepting the homosexual life style and refusing to associate with those that are homosexuals is a sound practice to avoid being corrupted by it.(according to those that believe that)
It is similar to those that do not want to associate with drug users or criminals, or those of any conduct that a person does not think is clean.(I am not saying that homosexuals are criminals, just trying to make a point)
Just as homosexuals would probably not associate with Muslims in a Muslim country (for obvious reason) doesn't mean they Islami phobic does it?

Human beings seek out patterns so they can be comfortable. Since most aren't gay, homosexuality does not fall into any of their preconceived patterns of "normality" and remains misunderstood.

Since people are also wired to fear and resent what they don't understand, they make up stories to tell each other so the danger goes away. Stories like the "gay disease" and how "God would cure them if they would only allow it." Such excuses only exist to make the fearful feel superior, and defy logic and sociality.

Black people didn't "go away" or turn white in the 50's just because they were segregated, and homosexuality will not be any different in the long run. I long to see simple acceptance of being gay so we can all move on to something much more important.

Yea but homophobia is fairly appropriately named, the people who condemn homosexuals also fear them to some extent. Why? I'm not sure. They're just humans right? It's not like they're drastically different.

Some of my friends are gay and they are among my best friends.

Homophobics don't fear the behavior. They fear the person. If they feared just the behavior there wouldn't be an issue because the homosexual behavior is usually in the privacy of their homes.

If you are afraid that you will be tempted to be come homosexual yourself by associating. You are afraid it will be contagious somehow. That is what homophobia is. People who think that homosexuality is a choice are ones who often have this because they are afraid they might become one. Or afraid that if they are seen with someone who is gay, others might think that they are too.

Homophobia is the loathing and disgust felt towards gays because you fear that you yourself may actually be gay.

Or because you have never ever met one, you believe when you are told that being touched by one will MAKE you gay.
