No, a person with ADHD isn't mentally insane. Maybe Schizophrenia can be considered mentally insane, but definitely not ADHD.

Absolutely not! Many people have adhd, but you must keep it under control with the proper medication. My son is 18 and has adhd. For several years before being treated, he was moody, didn't smile a lot, got angry very quickly, and was generally, hard to get along with. We finally got him to take meds for adhd, and he totally changed for the better. Now he smiles, no mood swings, and all anger is gone. But allow this state to go untreated, and you may behave erratically and might look insane. But adhd is not known to be a serious mental illness that develops into insanity. It does not. You are more prone to developing bi-polar disorder, but that doesn't happen to everyone with adhd. Just keep an eye on yourself. And don't let anything go on for too long, if you suspect it's not normal. There is a lot of help for your condition. Many people with adhd are very brilliant, so don't let it make you feel bad. But take good care of yourself and read up on it so you're well informed as to new developments, new treatments, etc. My son is a new man because he takes his meds regularly every day. It must be treated that way, not just when you need to concentrate. Find the right doctor and you'll be okay.

ADHD is not a disease. All it is, is a different learning style. And it requires a different teaching method. It aggravates me tremendously when people get medicated just so a teacher can teach to them. People were just the same today as they were when I was going to school. ADHD hadn't been "named" back then, and nobody got medicated. But teachers were still able to teach to them all.

NO, you are not mentally insane or unstable or anything. And don't let anybody tell you that you are. You are probably smarter than a whole lot of people.

I'm not a doctor but I would think not because ADHD is actually becoming very common. If you or someone has it I wouldn't freak out theres medication to control the symtoms. I mean I have a Panic Disorder but I'm not considered mentally insane.

The word insanity is a legal word...it means to lose contact with reality. ADHD is a disorder that makes the individual hyperactive and who also has an attention disorder. They do need medical care but are definitely not insane.

Adhd is not a form of insanity. However, no one can help having real mental diseases such as schizophrenia of psychotic behavior and they would still definitely be considered insane.

Yes - this is quite common in long term methamphetamine addicts. Sometimes people with ADHD become addicted to crank and over time they become very anti social. Crank is often a double whammy for people with ADHD. As far as becoming insane with just the ADHD alone would depend on the level of ADD you have. If your life is full of failures due to the ADD then of course your self esteem and overall motivation will be low. There are lots of drugs to treat this now and if used under the care of a good psychiatrist they can do wonders!

There's a big difference between criminally insane and mentally insane. ADD is not enough to have you be considered "insane". People with ADD are able to reason and function normally within society.

I don't think so. It can be treated with medication and/or counselling. It's a mental illness - people who have a mental illness as NOT insane. People who suffer from most types of depression are treated with medication, and they are not classified as "insane". It's an illness. Period.
Are you condeming people or are you looking for a cop-out to dodge something?
