Here is my view on it. I could probably take a random contemporary christian song right now, and tear it apart theologically, and show all the bad doctrine that it is filled with. Now, with that being said, I obviously don't like those songs, but there are some good christian music songs out there that do a good job inspiring people, leading them to Christ, and deliver a very good message at the same time. Now, I have noticed, that Christian music now a days is a lot more secular. I heard one the other day on the radio that was really just a love song about a guy and a girl. Seriously, it should had been on the light rock or pop music station.

I am an old timer.
I still love the more traditional hymns
and have a certain lack of appreciation for today's
Christian tunes that emulate more secular music.
give me "Amazing Grace", "The Old Rugged Cross", "What a Friend We Have in Jesus",
and the like.
but then, music is in the ears of the listener, I suspect.

I don't think it's worldly, and a friend of mine came to the Lord because of Contemporary Christian music. Psalms says to praise Him with the trumpet, flute, lyre, stringed instruments, cymbals, and the tambourine. I listen to K-love radio and it gets my mind turned towards the Lord and gets me worshiping Him.

the lyrics are the only thing that matter in music, any instrument can be used in worshipping god. you will find many say that is ungodly and that only the pipe organ and piano should be in church when in fact there was a time when those were contemporary instruments too. i dont remember in acts how the disciples played the pipe organ to praise god. really that is religion right there for you, we are under grace and we can worship god anyway that brings in glory and is in accordance to his word, if you want guitars and drums go for it, it you want the piano only go for it, as long as your heart is sincere to praising god and the lyrics and message is praising god.
