Preach it sister!
The last time i read the Bible, it said the same thing to me. I really don't undersand the whole principle of judgmentalism that seems to have swept a large section of those who call themselves Christian by force.
One thing I'd like to add if I may that probably will earn me about sixteen thumbs down on this question, is that we as Christians are called to love everyone, and that includes Musllims, it even includes Osama (much as it makes me want to grit my teeth to say it) it ijncludes Saddam Hussein. Imagine what these men's lives would have been like if someone had shown them the power of self-sacrificing love and its transformative ability.
We are put on this earth as Christians to break down the traditional barriers of friend and enemy, so that we can begin to work together. That does not mean that we approve of bad behavior or condone it, it simply means that we must love everyone if we are to follow Christ. And we must be constantly on guard of falling into the trap of dehumanizing anyone, judging anyone, or trying to decide who is truly worthy of Christ's love. Because. Newsflash (I know that you, the asker are already aware of this) NONE OF US are worthy of Christ's love.

I've only read most of the first two books (all of Genesis and parts of Exodus) and some other random verses pushed on me out of context for political reasons. Most of that was about a year and a half ago for a comparative religion class. I have no intention of reading much more of it, because what I read made absolutely no sense when compared with my personal life experiences. Its not that I'm against the idea of God (in fact, I find it hard to believe that there was no god or higher being involved in our history) but the God I saw in the Bible was awfully horrible and some of His commands and laws seem to go against nature and common sense.

Excellent point. I think it comes from a human desire to be "special". Some religious leaders take the stand that since they are Christians they are better than those who aren't. I've never understood that myself. I have always tried to do the set an example thing. People around me know that I'm an Episcopalian, but I don't ever push it on them. I've had more friends who have asked me about my church. When they do that, I then invite them to a service. It's not in my make-up to ever push and shove. If it turns out that it's the thing for them, then great. If not, I don't ever question them on it. They generally end up finding a church that is in tune with them.

you know what? I have often asked that question myself. I'm christian and I try to be nice to ALL people. I will be in the grocery store and i'll pass someone and smile at them, and they just look at you like "Why are you smiling at me,?" And I hate to say it, but some christians are worse than non christians....and thats not what God wants...we are supposed to love all people reguardless of their sexual orientation, race, religion, or any thing else... we are supposed to be like role models for everyone else, and show them how wonderful our life is because of God...instead we give non christians the impression that we are no better than anyone else. to them, we show that we are a bunch of hypocrites. but I try to get out there and set a good example. there are people in this world who hide behind the word "Christian" and as soon as they leave church they are out there getting hookers, cheating on their spouses, and everything you can imagine, yet when they set foot back in that church they act as if they could do no wrong. and that is what turns people off to God...because of people like that. and I just want those people to know, that REAL christians are nothing like that. there ARE some decent good honest God fearing people in this world, who know and love the lord. don't let these so called "Christians" sway your view of the real God...the God that I know.

First of all, I don't think it's a good idea to come on a public forum and put down other Christians. No Christian I know looks down on anyone. But you need to remember, even though Jesus did spend time around sinners, His message was "repent". When He saved the adulteress from stoning, what was His admonition? He said "go and sin no more". We are asked to love, yes, but not to condone sin. Of course that means in myself as well. Do I run around telling people they are going to hell? Of course not! But I do revere the word of God, as should you....if you follow Him.
Please think carefully about criticising your bretheran (other believers) in these forums. People use it against all of us.

Because some christains feel threatened by the world, because the bible says to avoid the world, they are not stable enough in their walk with God to surround themselves with peopel who oppse Christian moral because they dont know how to speak with the LOVE of God to them, instead they feel they are the outcast because they are christians, which is partly true, Jesus said those who hate me will also hate you. However there are stuck up christian who need to remember that EVERONE is a sinner and jesus dies for THE WORLD..for God so loved THE WORLD He gave his only begotton son...
I am a Christian and do not surround myself with ungodly peopel because they will lead me in the wrong path, I show love to everyone christain or not, i just dont hand out with peopel who cheat on their spouce, drink all the time, or do drugs, but those who have these issues, I do speak with love to them, never discrimating, and I pray for them.

Good point, we are to "love our neighbor as ourselves" But tell me, what is more loving, being friends someone who isn't a Christian, and never share the gospel with him because your afraid that he'll be offended and get mad and not talk to you again, or to share the gospel with him out of a genuine concern for his soul, so that he won't spend eternity in Hell?

Christ did indeed associate with sinners, but take notice of the fact that they reformed their lives. Did he not tell the woman caught in adultery "neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more?"

You are right. I was born as a Christian and I am not anymore. I realized that Christians are different as they show to others or in a church. They may hit children at home, steal money from the boss...but in a church they will be as angels, reading from the Bible, even teach others how to live their life.
That I don't even mention Christian history or some priest accused of molesting children. Ufff...I'm mad.

We do need to spend time with those who do not know Jesus (as long as we do not get tempted by it. Someone who use to drink alot should not go to a bar - for an example).
But we need to let them know in words at some point their need for a savior and bring them to Jesus.
