I filed my fed. taxes about a week ago but now I am worried they might take a part of it for a judgment out of Utah. Can they do that?

That depends upon the judgement. If it's for a student loan, child support, taxes or a debt to a governmental agency then it can be taken.

If it's for a commercial judgement -- unpaid credit cards, or default on a mortgage or other loan -- or for personal damage claims then it cannot be attached.
