There's this Christian organzation at my old school called FCA.
Well there's something happening over there I would like to explain. A kid "came out of the closet" a couple weeks ago. We all knew he was gay! So the FCA leaders had a meeting and a teacher at the school is ahead of it. They had a conversation about the kid and one of the FCA leaders stuck up for him. The way I heard it, she said that the kid was doing nothing wrong. So the teacher kicked her off of the leadership. Now when they have FCA, hardly no one come anymore because they think that the teacher made a wrong decision. The Bible clearly states that it's wrong but I also feel that Christian pin-piont gay people out when a sinner is a sinner. I believe the leader needed to know her word before she entered leadership but I also think it's wrong that the teacher is troubled about the kid being gay when there is no differnce between sinners. What do you think?

We are all sinners. We all need God's forgiveness. Thank God for Christ! We sin when we condemn others. It is wrong to point out the splinter in someone elses eye and ignore the log in your own. He (or she) who does not sin may throw the first stone. Until then love as God has first loved us..all of us!

Perhaps the teacher should make sure no divorced people are part of the organization either, because Jesus clearly talked against divorce.

Wait...Paul said there should not be female teachers, so that clears up the whole problem!

I don't mean to make light of the situation. I am a Christian also. I believe that loving God the Father and loving our neighbor as ourself is the core of what being a Christian is all about.

I commend your leader for defending the gay student. This could have provided an opportunity to deepen faith; instead, your teacher chose to be exclusive.

There are many things that the Bible says are wrong, but it sounds like your fellow students are committed not to judging others, but to being compassionate. Good for you. peace

You are right. A sinner is a sinner and we all need to pray for forgiveness. This is very sad. I would report this teacher to the head of the FCA or whoever is in charge and move past this, hopefully you and the others can get back together. Maybe someone should bring this up to the teacher.

Being an active gay is a sin. A child stating he just is realizing that he is gay isn't a sin.

There are thousands of gay children in schools. What difference does that make? No one should need to know. Unless they are wanting to look out for that child in order to protect that child from the bullies and threats and possibility of being beaten up. What where they talking about in regards to this kid? Where they thinking of expelling him? That would be totally wrong!

Plus, these teachers were talking about this child behind his back. This is gossiping. This is a sin in itself. So these teachers are hypocrits. They gossiped (sinned) about a gay child (only a sinner if he is actively sexually gay). These adults aren't very mature and need to leave well enough alone. And aren't teaching any moral lesson to the other children in the school.

The only reason a gay child needs to be talked about is if they have been threatened or hurt and needs to be watched after for protection from other students. Even then, the gay child needs to be in on the meeting and the whole school should be taught about manners and loving thy neighbor.

First off, yes being gay is wrong and clearly goes against God. If the kid was in a leadership position, then the kid should have stepped down. People tend to look up to people in any leadership position. So the person in leadership should be able to set an example for others. Especially if it is a christian organization, the people in charge of the organization should act christ-like. The gay kid like I said should have stepped down. And I think the whole organization should have told the kid what they was doing was wrong and prayed for the person and then show them bible scriptures proving that being gay is wrong.

It's hard to determine who was wrong without enough information. If the Christian organization has rules that prohibit misconduct then he broke the rules. It is difficult to find a balance to love the sinner and hate the sin. We are taught in the church that to prohibit one from living in their sin and being a member, encourages the person to put away sin. In this situation it is not a church and shouldn't be in the school for this very reason. How do you decide what to do?

You say there is no difference between sinners. True that all of us sin and fall short. However there is a difference between Adamic sin (the imperfection we are born with because of Adam) and willfully practicing sin.

1 Cor. 6:9-11 states..."What! Do you not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom. And yet that is what some of you were..."
Notice it said that is what some WERE. As in past tense. As in they are no longer committing those sins. Were they sinless? Of course not. They still had the imperfection they were born with. But those sins mentioned in that verse are all choices. They could choose to practice those sins or abstain. If the choice is to practice them...notice what is said? You will not inherit the kingdom. If it is unacceptable to God, why would a religious group tolerate the wrongdoing? To allow it to continue, would give the wrong message to that particular wrongdoer allowing him/her to think it is acceptable.

If a group is composed of people who say they are following the Messiah, then it would seem clear that anyone who chose to do something violating His rules of behavior should be dealt with. On the other hand, if you don't believe that faith is supposed to result in obedience, then you would have a different interpretation. One tricky part about "gay" is that sometimes it refers to tendency (which is not sin) and sometimes it refers to activity, which is. The Almighty gave us a great gift of love sex and marriage, and if we take that gift apart, we destroy it. Very few people understand that there is more peace and joy in obedience than there is in disobedience!

The organization sounds like they are judging people. Find a bible passage that talks about God alone being the judge of man. That should solve the problem.

Self-destructive behaviour by the teacher. Essentially good common sense response to a prejudiced leader, there are probably legal remedies available!
