My cats are strictly indoor cats. I use revolution once a year in may, and that keeps the fleas away for the whole flea season. it is a little pricey, but it's really worth it.

Do not buy the on the neck stuff from wal-mart. It made my one cat really really sick, and the vet said it happens all the time. It doesn't work, and my poor cat was slobbering everywhere and acting like her ears were hurting horribly.

There is not a true, natural, cheap remedy. You should really just go ahead and invest and wipe it out. The shampoos and other things, even advantage and frontline don't typically kill the eggs (larvea). If this is the problem, it will always be a problem until you kill the eggs. You should really go the vet, get the cat a shot called "capstar," then have a new medication revolution to put on them. It is put on just like frontline. It is relatively new and you will invest more in the beginning this way, but wipe out your problem. Vacuum the house really good and then throw the bag out. If you vacuum and just store your vacuum cleaner, then the eggs may be in the bag. You haven't solved the problem in your house, just on your cat. If this is a strictly indoor cat, you should only have to do this one time. If this is an in/out cat, you should put revolution on them monthly. This medicine is wonderful. It kills fleas, eggs, worms and ear mites. You think about it......if you go with the cheap stuff that doesn't work, do it a few times, have your house bombed, then wind up taking the cat to the vet anyway, you've spent twice as much as going ahead and wiping out the problem in the first place.

I've tried pretty much everything you can buy in pet stores etc, but I've only every been happy with the drops I've bought from the vet.

You can buy flea combs which give off a charge when they come into contact with the fleas (obviously they are harmless to your cat).

First, don't use sevin dust, it will kill your cat.

I use a combination of brewer's yeast and garlic tablets, crushed fine and mixed with his food, one of each pill twice a week. I also put a pie tin with soapy water in the middle of a room where he spends a lot of time, and put a lamp over it so the light shines on it at night, fleas are attracted and jump in and drown. There is also an herb called fleabane, that works well in it's bed.

Keep them inside. I don't use anything on my two cats because they are strictly indoor cats. However, if they do have fleas already then you may have to invest a little. Try Advantage to get rid of them. Remember you also have to get them out of your house or else they will continue to get them over and over. Fleas are a pain of a problem! Good luck to you!

Well, the pet store should have products that will get rid of your cat's "little friends". Also, if you have carpeting in your house, they could have infested the carpet. It happened to me, when I brought in a stray cat- I used Borax (cleaning powder, available in major stores) to sprinkle on the carpet and they I used one of those flea sprays- you leave a can of it on the middle of the floor, turn it on so it sprays continiously and get out of the house. When it's done, you have to air out the rooms, open up all windows and doors to get the scent out (it can be harmful when inahaled by humans or pets.)

The cat flea shampoos that you can get at Wal-Mart (about $5.00) work.
