Especially at night - I don't drink but love good venues where I can hear people talk. Any activity recommendations welcome!

What do you like to do? It's often best to meet people of like minded/common interests...you can check out the 92nd St. YMCA--they have lectures/talks on a variety of subjects in addition to concert series.

Many of the museums( the Metropolitan, MOMA--Museum of Modern Art, the Frick, the Whitney, Guggenheim, etc.) also have lectures/educational series...or it can be as simple as attending a movie and meeting someone on the line or strolling in Central Park.

If you are into natural health and healing modalities/spiritual practice investigate the New York Open Center in SoHo. You can request one of their catalogs. They have a rich and stimulating variety of lectures and workshops and even offer exciting trips abroad.

For more adventures in health--explore health clubs, yoga, t'ai chi, martial arts, dance/ballroom dance, meditation classes; running/biking/walking groups or clubs, places to go swimming, cooking classes.

Have a dog, or a know a friend who does?--bring your four-legged friend to the dog run in Central Park.

These are but a few suggestion. And keep in mind--you do not have to limit yourself to the evenings.

Good luck and have much fun. You are in the greatest city in the world!
