It really depends on what he did to you, it might be good to keep the hate around for sometime. You don't want to be forgiving for someone who really doesn't deserve it, they will just turn around and hurt you again. Do your best to keep busy, hang out with friends, really apply yourself in your work and in time you will get over that person. You may even wake up one day and say, "I don't know what I ever saw in him."

Time and friends is the answer go out and have fun don't get mixed up in something to forget about someone it never works. If it does work then it would hurt the other person because you used that person to forget the other when its all over you loose that crazy feeling that you had. You get all lost and everything and how I know this because I have done it before. It had to be the worst thing that I have ever done. So my advice to you is to go out there and have fun with friends and family. When you are over this then you could go out and date again.
How you know when its over?
Well when you think about someone special if he still comes to mind and you feel as though you have lost your best friend then you know that you still love him. Time is the best healer you could ever rely on.
Good luck with getting getting over you pain...

hey! i know it might be really hurting u and i completely understand tat u r unable to decide what shud be ur next step...well remember this:- LIFE NEVER STOPS FOR ANYONE. give yourself some time. see, wen u get some physical injury it takes times to heal. i knw it pains a lot but with time it heals itself. so give time to this emotional injury also. n dont think before crying. cry n let all the pain fade away. you will feel gud. if u want to love him, love...go slowly. i firmly believe in God n i can assure u that few years down the line u will be thank ful for this break up. love yourself ..........

Well you shouldn't hate him, becasue it will eat you up. but as to mend a broken heart, well get a new one. Just joking. as they say time heals all wounds. bare with it, it will take care of its self. just don't open it up to wide at first, but don't close it either. if you shut out others, you may find it will be hard to open it up again,

hate is a pretty powerful emotion - I reckon you're never properly over someone if you still have such a powerful emotion. Try to accept the situation for what it is and move on (ie don't love him *or* hate him, just leave him behind).

it depends what he did to u. if he really didn't mean to then hating him would be a waste of the time u could use to be friends with him but if he did something that was unforgiveable then i think taking time to dislike or hate him would be okay for a while
