Its clouding your brain.

The season has just begun and it has a story line with some terrorists (who happen to be Muslim) wanting to attack the US as well as release Muslims from a prison like Gitmo. There's also an ex-terrorist (Muslim) who is working with the US/Jack to help find these terrorists.
Sadly, right now in the world there are Muslim terrorists who want to attack the US so it's a valid story point (there are also other terrorists from other parts of the world after completely different enemies...not all Muslim...) The storyline probably does attract some Americans to watch...I doubt it provides ideas to real terrorists since I think they are not stupidly watching tv shows to think up ideas...
I think it's a complex issue and 24 is trying to show aspects of it (having the ex-terrorist work with his ex-enemy; having a American born male support the terrorists cause; etc.) It's sure to insult some people and feed into stereotypes, but at the same time maybe it can have people address these issues substantively rather than knee-jerk reactions and maybe understand why someone could have some of these thoughts or positions.

Become educated about who owns the media and why they own it, what they are saying and why they say what they say. Don't be a stooge for anyone. What has a more powerful effect on the minds of people and their understanding than tv shows portraying the evil this or the horrifying that. If you were old enough you would remember how the Japanese people were demonized in comic books and movies during and after WWII. Loyal Japanese Americans land was taken from them and they were imprisoned in the US for propaganda purposes. Same thing with the German people. They were seduced into war and then people held it against them and still do. They are still paying, as are we all, though very few of the original players are alive anymore.
All war is born in deception and runs on deception from then on. Lying about the characters and deeds of others is a chief ingredient in the deception. Another is performing horrible acts and blaming them on your intended victim so that public opinion will move in your direction. Thats what war is all about kids. If you think it a noble enterprise, no matter what your age, I encourage you to get signed up right away for the troop surge so that you can see first hand what war is all about for people on the ground.

I am sorry but I thought there really were Islamic terrorsists out there -
24 is entertainment - the terrorists don't need to watch TV to get the idea of a nuclear bomb.

the second one, the money reason.
It's because 24 needs to be entertaining. I'm sure they are not specifically attacking the philosophy of Islam, only the commonly held idea that some islamists are terrorists.
As for film makers giving terrorists new ideas, yeah this is bad.

Not true in the least. Alexander Siddiq's character is awesome and he looks like he's apparently Muslim still... the guy from the IAA (who played in the Matrix movies, can't think of his name) is extremely admirable and cool and HE is obviously Muslim. I find myself cheering BOTH of 'em.
And c'mon... "providing ideas to terrorists"? It's in evidence that terrorists had been trying to get their hands on old Soviet nuclear weapons & weapons-grade nuke material for a LONG time now. The terrorists aren't as stupid as you think, or as stupid as you'd like us to believe.
I don't see it as Islam bashing, we've had our fair share of zealots who CALLED themselves "Christian" killing and bombing in the name of Christianity too, and other weird terrorist types on 24 who were idiots just to be terroristic idiots. Look at Jack's own FAMILY, they're not Muslim and they're responsible, in part for LAST season's attacks on 24... stop the madness... I beg you.

I haven't watched it, but it would seem to me that hollywood makes a distinction between muslim terrorists (bad) and non-terrorist muslims (not considerably worse than other mainstream religions)

I am not sure how the two things you mentioned are related. It is a fun show to watch, though.
Islam bashing and terrorism ideas...how do you fit those together? and what exactly are you asking?
