I am amazed at so many unbelievers (not claiming Christ as their Savior) at this site that automatically think they have the "right" answer in serious questions about the Bible when in fact they show great evidence that they have never even read one page of the Bible.

What gives?

The other side of the story is that a good number of the people who frequent this site haven't got the faintest idea about how the Bible came to be. If you asked them what the original three languages parts of it were written in, most would not know. If you said that generally accepted versions were not based on actual, old manuscripts but rather on revisions with many errors in it -- they would deny this fact. If you told them editing has gone on, even with the Hebrew parts of the Old Testament, they would tell you that is a lie. If you told that some translations were not literal translations -- of some of their favorite passages -- they would immediately label you a trickster.

A wide variety of posters are necessary, especially in this forum. What we often see is people taking the English versions of the Bible as literal when perhaps sometimes, they should be questioned. Thank God for the questioners.

Some atheists and agnostic people , or unbelievers, as you call them, are more than capable of answering questions about the Bible and religion. Just because they do not believe in a god does not mean they haven't read the bible. A lot have in fact read the Bible, which may be a reason they are unbelievers. A non-believer can answer a Biblical question as well as a Christian can answer a question about atheism.

You assumption is not true in relation to your question. It however confirms a known fact that some Christians are intolerant and judgmental. For your information, I don't claim Jesus as my saviour, but

1) I grew up in church, I lived with a pastoral couple from age 7 to age 21. During that time, I was in the church every Sunday.

2) I studied and passed theology. I had offered to be a pastor, but I then came to a realisation that there are people like you who believe that if there is God, he is their only. I then tried to unravel some of the in the bible by studying theology. That's when I decided to dump belief in Jesus. So, other than that your statement is wrong, you don't do your faith any good by being so judgmental.

It is reasonable for non-believers to answer Bible questions for the same reason that software companies use beta-testing, to improve the product. You may have the best sounding theological system in the world, and everyone in your church enthusiastically embraces it, but for some reason your missionary attempts fall flat. No one outside your church takes you seriously. Obviously there is a misunderstanding, because few people would reject the truth. You could stick to your guns, or you could ask for feedback to see why your message is misunderstood. You could even consider revising your message in light of an inconsistency revealed by the infidel.

Non-believers can help keep believers honest, goading them to defend their positions logically and provoking them to examine their own faith for weaknesses that need strengthening. Some of these non-believers are former believers who may reveal the worst shortcomings of your message. A believer should be able to defend his faith. It's harder if you don't know what the accusations are.

Let themask questions! That is how people learn things; besides to avoid things being added to (and taken from) the word of God may have prevented some additions that have already taken place.
May you receive a large pleasant surprise today to God's glory!

We actually DO have the right, Peanut. I've read the Bible several times, by the way.

If the Bible is true, then it is true for all, not just "believers."

It seems to me, from the answers I've read here, that "unbelievers" seem to have read more of the Bible than "believers", who never seem to have gotten further than Leviticus.

Many of us are very well read individuals who would like to offer our personal point of view. Why would you even ask a question if you were not interested in different answers?
