What about warranty?

A limited warranty will come with any iPod bought from an authorized retailer (e.g. Best Buy, Circuit City, Target). I wouldn't buy from eBay. The risk vs. savings just isn't worth it. If you want your best price from an online retailer I'd try:

www.newegg.com

Just to note, Apple is supposed to announce a new iPod soon. Rumors are that it will be during the Super Bowl so you might want to hold off for a few weeks.

Great question -- I faced the same decision when I bought my brother a Nano for Christmas (he's a great brother). When I checked on ebay, they did not beat Apple's price, if you add the shipping. If you buy from Apple, you know you are getting the true goods.

Now, the different clubs out there also have specials. At Costco they had the white Nano and the pink one, at $30 cheaper, but my brother really wanted blue, so ...

Warranty is the same. Apple also sells refurbished ones, which are usually defects (and fixed) or returns with opened boxes ... these are cheaper if you don't mind a few minor scratches or an opened box. Warranty on these are the same as well. If I were buying for myself, I might look into these, since I don't care about the box (it's going in the trash anyway) and scratches are inevitable (I knock everything around anyway).

APPLE!!!

I bought an iPod from Ebay and it never came. I got jipped. Apple is very reliable.

IPods are also available at places like Target, Best Buy, and other electronic stores. I bought my iPod at Best Buy on sale because it was returned. Sure I took a chance but I saved some money.

Just PLEASE don't use Ebay!

apple, because its guaranteed thats its really brand new. they also have a warranty on its product, but of course you need to pay an additional price if you want your ipod to be replace in case something goes wrong.
