I work with rescue dogs and would like to look into making t-shirts to help raise money for them, maybe using transfers, but I need the basic pattern.

Hi, this blog gives instructions on how to make your own pattern - with photos ... Shelby is an excellent model - even if she doesn't look that happy about it all, lol.

There are lots of free knitting patterns out there - the other sort seem to be fewer on the ground ... don't know if this site with it's dog 'vest' & link to free pattern for dog 'dress' will help:
http://www.sewing.circleofcrafters.com/freepetvestpattern.html
(You could maybe adapt the dress - take off the skirt part & add sleeves?)

This site has links to adapting a sweatshirt & a fleece:

This site also gives basic advice - but no patterns or pictures, unfortunately:

and this one:

The only other thing I can think of is to contact a wholesaler to see if they will provide you with blank t-shirts (possibly at a discount) ??

Hope one of these sites will be useful.

My parents' Jack Russell has two t shirts that I bought in Accessorize - they have a large range of dog shirts. Minnie loves hers, and comes and asks to have one put on in the mornings or when she goes out. I recommend using one like that as a pattern - they aren't expensive. Minnie has nearly worn out her first one, so I was thinking of taking it apart and using it as a pattern to make her another.
