From my discussions with people from Germany and the rest of Europe - I get the impression that they feel that they have the right to tell us what we can and cannot do.

My family in Germany is mostly of the opinion that we are too hard on the politicians. They don't hate the President by and large, and they support the U.S. military because most of them have worked in one way or another with them.
In fact, some of them are upset the bases are closing there and they won't see as many Americans.
The violent, anti-war, anti-Bush anti anyone who holds a different opinion are always going to find something to protest or hate. I know they are the ones who make the news, just like here, but most Germans don't have a problem with us.
Ask yourself, when editing street interviews for broadcast on BBC or CNN who is more attention grabbing, a regular German who works hard, has a family and has no problem with us or... the person marching in a demonstration saying "down with Bush, death to imperialist death mongers!"
As I was told when I worked the Oklahoma City bombing, watch out for the media sneaking around our police tape because their motto is "If it bleeds, it leads."
