I agree, it's sad that there are so many misled and struggling people...but I also really believe that the Lord has saved his most valiant spirits for these latter days...
The gospel is true. Joseph Smith IS a true prophet of God and he did in fact SEE and SPEAK TO God our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.
I respect what others believe. They have every right to believe what they want, but it seems that they want to take away OUR right to believe as we do just because they don't believe it.
Oh well. We know the gospel is true and that it is the only way back to our Heavenly Father.
Don't get too discouraged - think about positive things and how someday this life will just seem like the blink of an eye.

Counterfeit Christianity is probably the best description I can give for a cult. Counterfeit Christianity is an imitation of real Christianity. Bible terms like "Jesus Christ, Resurrection, Salvation, and Atonement" are used by the Cult, but the various cult groups have assigned entirely different meanings to these terms.
Like counterfeit money which is sometimes difficult to detect, so it is difficult to detect counterfeit Christianity, since it looks like the real thing. Experts examining counterfeit money often hold it up to a strong light and look for identifying marks. Counterfeit Christianity also has identifying marks, which can be seen when, held up to an even stronger light, the light of God's word, the bible.
We are at an advantage if we know what to expect from a cult. Cultists are very well trained to appear "Christian", and indeed believe they are the true churches, and you need the deliverance! Therefore, be bold and ask the question, "do you believe the group you represent is the only true church on the face of the earth?"
If they reply that they are, or if they are evasive, making remarks like "Well, every church has a measure of truth but...", you have made an early detection of a Cultist.
Every true Christian, if asked the same question, regardless of his denomination, would reply that the true church is comprised of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, and HE (not some organization) is THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE, (John 14:6). No legitimate denomination would claim that they alone and their members have salvation exclusively, but the cults (the counterfeits) do.

The only good thing that I can really think to say that is good about mormons is that they are generally pretty nice people. But man, you guys are so stressed out all the time trying to be perfect, trying to be what is impossible for anyone. now, I'm not gonna sit down here and tear a part your beliefs, cuz that really isn't gonna get anyone anywhere. But, I am curious as to what you do with the verse Ephesians 2:8,9

There are good people and bad people in every religion. Look to the people that tend to make this world a better place in your religion and follow the examples of those that do what you truly believe God would want.

As for the bashers, they are just really sad people. I have read several posts of people that think its just grand and fun to bash on mormons. Most are completely ignorant and probably don't really have a clue what mormons believe and some are probably bitter angry people that have had a bad experience either in the church or with a member. Either way respect isnt in their vocabulary. Someone on here said that we should look for debate and not just talk with people we agree with and I agree with them. The problem is that if you look at the majority of people tearing down mormons is that they arent worthy of debate. They are just mean spirited hyppocrites that condemn mormons for believing they are right when that is exactly what they are doing too.

The mormon church does a tremendous amount of good for both its members and its communities. When there are major disasters the US gvt has actually turned to mormon relief organizations because they know we are prepared and willing to help out. Mormon clergy arent paid so those that are doing this work are working full time jobs and their full time church positions because of their desire to serve their God. Service and family are the most important things that the church stresses. Education for men and women is pushed for. The church strongly recommends that everyone finish their education and go onto higher education. Personal responsibility is focused on. You are not suppose to leach off the gvt. You are suppose to prepare for emergencies and if unfortunate circumstances happen you are to seek help from your family, your church, and then your community and gvt. Every member of the church from the time they are children to those that are investigating the church are told over and over to never ever rely on other peoples testimonies of this church or of God. As children mormons are taught to ask of God what is true, to always pray and question. We are never taught blind faith like many would have you believe. I cant say how many times I heard never to rely on the testimony of others but to seek out your own and make sure you know of the truth for yourself. We are encouraged to question and to study. Yes we are taught that this is the only church with the FULL gospel of Christ but we are also taught that every religion has truth and that everyone has a right to believe as they believe. We don't hold classes that teach this is why Catholics or Muslims are evil like other churches about us.

Most of all this church is about family and it stresses that everyone on this planet is your personal brother and sister and that we should treat each other as family. If you want to know something good about mormons then just remember that regardless of race, religion, nationality or beliefs we as mormons know that everyone on this earth is family and that a loving God doesnt condemn good people to hell.

First of all NO I do not feel like you. The way I look at it is that people have a right to follow the religion that they want to believe in. I think you can question it all you want but it will still be a question to you and there religion will still go on like it has for years. People have the right to believe in what they want to actually when you go and study the different religions it is very fascinating especially when you get into the different Indian tribes and the Eskimo tribes but It all boils down to God and that is who they believe in.As for me I am a Lutheran, yes I cuss and yes I drink occasionally but I believe in God and I believe he helps me on a day to day basis and I also believe that I need to treat people the way that I think people would treat me-and no it doesn't always work .(but that's when I go after the kill em with kindness stuff which most of the time works nothing is better that making someone feel guilty for you being nice to them and them being mean to you)

There are good people everywhere, you just have to look for them. People inherently feel that their religion is the best because it fits their morals. So when you ask for people to support a religion like "Mormons" the best responses will be from Mormons. I feel they need to stay closer to the teaching of the Bible. But they feel they do. They interpret scripture differently than I do.
Does that mean they are always wrong? NO
Does that mean I am always right? NO
People tend to see the differences before they look to the similarities.
Pray for Knowledge and wisdom to interpret God word for your life.

God Bless

There has to be some good mormons out there in the world. And there has to be good mormon organizations too. But is that really important compared to your own values and morals?

What if, hypothetically, every mormon had poor values, wouldn't that be a good enough reason for you to develop your own morales and lead by example?

I have no respect for religion, but I do respect people and I value thoughtful ideas. Critical discussion is not a bad thing, it is a good thing. Join the debate instead of looking for agreement, have some fun.

2 things.

They need to bring corporal punishment back to our schools. Kids are not learning that there are consequences to their actions anymore.

and message boards like these allows children to be hidden behind the computer screen. Many are typeing things that they would never have the guts to say face to face to someone.. it gives them a certain amount of freedom.

You put those 2 things together and you have the problems that you speak of.

Are there good people on this board both atheist, christian or otherwise? yes, they are the ones that are stateing their opinions and beliefs without using derrogatory terms or comments that are childish

If you're a true Mormon you would know how it is to be treated when you go door to door. Some of us have to do it for life instead of just two years. Although I don't believe in your religion, you guys are in general one of the most respectful groups to meet out there in our ministry.
