I am from the state of iowa, but did grad from high school in Utah. My last year there (97) i wanted to join the Army NG. There was a crisis in my family and so i just came back to Iowa. Now i am almost 31 and still want to join. This is a really good time for me. Am i too old? Its not the fact if i want to join or not, i know i do, but my issue is with the age thing. thanks in advance.

31 is still youmg. I just enlisted a 36 yr old a few months ago into infantry, he had no issues becasue, like you, he was in shape and had the desire to join the Guard.

Thank you for wanting to serve, good luck.

You are still young enough to join. You will just need to find a NG recruiter and they will be more than happy to guide you through the enlistment process. Just be prepared because Basic and AIT will not be a breeze. You will probably end up being a role model and father figure for a lot of the 18 and 19 year old kids that have never really been away from home. The only other thing I can say is to choose your MOS carefully and good luck.

I am a SPC on Active duty. Just to inform you that you are not to old to join and that the best way to get the answers for this is to sit down and talk to a recruiter. Also keep in mind that there is a possibility of being deployed to support OIF(Operation Iraq Freedom) or OEF(Operation Enduring Freedom).

I am not sure if that is too old or not. My little brother is 27 (almost 28) and he just joined this month. It is a great opportunity for him and we are so proud of him. Just contact your local recruiter and they can give you all the information you need. If you are healthy, you should be able to join. They have a great sign on bonus that my brother is using to straighten his life around (huge reinstatement fee for his lost license and catch up on child support) . Good luck!
