I would try the natural approach like Olive oil, Soothex or Oil of Oregano. Soothex and Oil of Oregano are also detoxifiers, brings oxygen to the area, improves the circulation and diminishes pain and itching without any side effects. Avoid stress as eczema worsens with stress.
Good luck to you.

I grew up with eczema and this is what worked when I was little.
Clean the area with hydrogren peroxide (it wont sting or burn the child) and cover the eczema with the Crisco Oil Shortening. The white hard stuff you find in the store.
Then in between those sessions get a prescritpion for it, because thats the only thing that will REALLY get rid of it. Oatmeal baths also work well.
Hope this helps.

Trust me on this...the first person to answer your question is right. Crisco works the greatest. I work with autistic twins that both have exczema and their mom has tried all the prescription lotions, all the otc creams and lotions and their dermatologist told them if nothing works then put Crisco on them right after their bath. It works wonders for them and they have horrible exczema.

My son had eczema when he was a few months old and the doctor prescribed, Elocon cream 45g. It's the generic brand of Mometasone Furoate cream 0.1%. That stuff wasn't expensive and it worked great.
