My youth pastor asked me to give a sunday school lesson on the evils of homosexuality. No one knows that I don't believe in God and I'm gay. What do I do? Keep quiet, or use it as an opportunity to come out of two closets?

I would suggest that you meet with your youth pastor and tell him what you have just told us. DO NOT come out during the lesson. It would be a betrayal to your youth pastor and would cause more harm than good in your Sunday School class. Tell him that you just wouldn't feel comfortable bringing a lesson on a subject that you disagree with. DO NOT use the opportunity to get on a soap box and proclaim the evils of religion or the benefits of homosexuality.

The evils of homosexuality.
We all know there is plenty in the holy bible that talks about the sin of homosexuality. Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, Genesis 19:4-6, Genesis 19:4-6, 1 Timothy 1:90-11, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 9, Romans 1:24-32.
I want to talk to you today about some evils of homosexuality rarely discussed.
It has very much to do with Romans 1:24-32 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-6:11.
Romans 1:24-32 "Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.
Here we see that yes indeed God did not pour His grace on some, and included in some of those where indeed some homosexuals. I supose that because of this passage, and many of the other passages Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, Genesis 19:4-6, Genesis 19:4-6, 1 Timothy 1:90-11, all seem to give reasons to rant on about the evils of homosexuality. Why if i was a homosexual, I may even think to cast mine own self out. Yes it could be easily understood why a homosexual could bring himself to feel this way. Maybe even stop believing in a God.
Most people argue about how homosexuality is caused. I have come to know they are constructed. No it is not born in a child. Tell a child that. That has never had treatment, had his trials, lead into expermentaion innoscently, and maybe not so innoscently. Has heard how evil it is, how unloved they are from God, cast out forever.
With out even a hint of salvation. Salvation like God may give his grace to any one he chooses.(I do not know the bible passage for this, but it would be good if you could find out}
For instance 1 Corinthians 6:9-6:11. "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolators, nor adulterers, nor HOMOSEXUALS, nor SODOMITES, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God."
"AND SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God."
So let us look at the evil of homosexuality from a different point of veiw. That there are some homosexuals that change by the mercy of God. It does not say when a person is changed in these matters. It could be in an instant or it could take a life time.
So Brothers and Sisters let us learn to love one another as we love ourselves. Love God above all else.
Pray for the homosexual. That this one may not be given up for, ever, that God show his grace upon this person.
So now you have seen the evils of homosexuality in a different light. How many Brothers and Sisters have been torn so far away from God because of homosexuality that they come to believe they are not worthy of Gods' good grace. Clearly 1 Co 6:11 says other wise. Some do change, by the grace of God, according to His plan, and not always ours. So let us be mindful when we suspect a christian brother or sister with the issue of homosexuality. Let us be mindful when we here of a homosexual becoming a christian. It all could be part of God's great plan.
We can learn to preach the good news as well as the fire and brimstone.

I'm sure a gay atheist will go down well at a sunday school lesson.

Good luck. You're gonna need it.

If you live in a small town, I'd just lie. Try to give a moderate view but dont tell them the truth. It could ruin your life. Atheists don't go to hell for lying about their beliefs. If you're surrounded by hardcore theists just keep a low profile.

well first, if you don't believe in God, you shouldn't be teaching sunday school at all. The right thing to do would be to tell the pastor that too.

Unless you go to a rather bizarre church, I doubt this is in any way true, as churches do not give lessons on homosexuality to kids. You should really think of more logical stories to come up with.

Go to the youth pastor tell him you don't feel comfortable teaching right now as you are currently undergoing religious struggles within yourself. Will get you off the hook for now anyway and your also not lying.

If you wish to be known henceforth, as a homosexual non-believer, 'fess up.
Or, you might simply quietly decline.
