Look into the Baha'i beliefs. This religion respects and tolerates all form of worship. Wouldn't that make everything truly holy, instead of all the pain and sadness the chronic fighting for what God is the true one?

Don't you think many current religions would love to dominate the world? Of course some leaders within various religions are striving for this? Not to be insulting, but don't you listen to the news or read the paper? Or perhaps your question was written in jest.
Pat Robertson and Osama Bin Laden are both applying for the position.
And how, please tell me how, this would solve problems in the world. Do you think people would stop fighting? Look at the factions within the same religions that fight.
Or perhaps you purpose a dictator. That would solve some problems and create new ones.

The Baha'i faith is a religion followed by several million people in the world , from all countries and all backgrounds, so the Baha'i faith is a world religion :
- All these ppl believe in the unity of mankind - that all ppl matter, and that the world should be run as one country for the benefit for everyone.
- They believe that there has only ever been one religion ; the religion of God. God sent His Messengers to different places at different times so that everyone in the world could hear about Him.
-Bahá'ís believe that there is only one God, though ppl may call Him by different names .God is somethin we can never really understand: we can only learn about him trough His creation and His Messengers.
- Baha'is follow Bahá'u'lláh, the latest in a long line of Messengers sent by God to tell us how we should live and behave. The name Baha'u'llah means Glory of God .Altough He passed to the next word nearly a 100 years ago , Baha'u'llah wrote down everythin we need to know to be able to build a better life here on earth and in th world to come.
- Baha'is believe that Christ, Muhammed, Buddha, Moses and Krishna were all Messengers, Manifestations of God
- These messengers all said basically the same thin ; that we should be honest, truthful, kind trustworthy and humble. it was only their social teachings wich were different: this is because they were meant for a particular time and place. Now we are part of a world society new laws are necessary.
- All of these messengers promised a time when a great messenger would come to bring peace to the whole world. Baha'is belive that Baha'u'llah was that messenger and that the time for peace is now.
I hope you read this text , it took a long time for me to type it. thx

"I hope that the lights of the Sun of Reality will illumine the whole world so that no strife and warfare, no battles and bloodshed remain. May fanaticism and religious bigotry be unknown, all humanity enter the bond of brotherhood, souls consort in perfect agreement, the nations of earth at last hoist the banner of truth and the religions of the world enter the divine temple of oneness, for the foundations of the heavenly religions are one reality. Reality is not divisible; it does not admit multiplicity. All the holy Manifestations of God have proclaimed and promulgated the same reality. They have summoned mankind to reality itself and reality is one. The clouds and mists of imitations have obscured the Sun of Truth. We must forsake these imitations, dispel these clouds and mists and free the Sun from the darkness of superstition. Then will the Sun of Truth shine most gloriously; then all the inhabitants of the world will be united, the religions will be one, sects and denominations will reconcile, all nationalities will flow together in the recognition of one fatherhood and all degrees of humankind gather in the shelter of the same tabernacle, under the same banner.
Until the heavenly civilization is founded, no result will be forthcoming from material civilization, even as you observe. See what catastrophes overwhelm mankind. Consider the wars which disturb the world. Consider the enmity and hatred. The existence of these wars and conditions indicates and proves that the heavenly civilization has not yet been established. If the civilization of the Kingdom be spread to all the nations, this dust of disagreement will be dispelled, these clouds will pass away and the Sun of Reality in its greatest effulgence and glory will shine upon mankind."

They're too concerned about clinging to their dogmas rather than doing what would benefit humanity as a whole. Only Buddhism is open to the idea of all religions being unified for the common good because it embraces and respects religious diversity while emphasising the similar moral precepts on which the world's religions are founded.

Actually, there is only one Religion, God is the Supreme soul from we, the small particles souls emanated. And eternal occupation of the soul (Religion)is to render loving service to the whole, the Supersoul, God.
There are many different religions throughout the world because they are not all on the absolute platform of devotional service. On the material platform, religious systems are different. cheating religions. None of these religions is actually genuine. The genuine religious system is that which enables one to become a lover of the Supreme Personality of God. This will be possible only when people abandon the material concept of life. They interested in rituals only, describes in the bible and Koran, and they miss the point to completely surrender to God and love Him.
They identify with material designations, "i am Cristian", "i am Muslim", :"i am Hindu", 'i am Buddhist", etc, One has to become freed from such designations and become pure in order to serve God. They have no knowledge of God nor of His eternal abode.
If they search for this, yes, that will be the solutions of many problems.

First of all, I'm sure that someone out there has proposed a so-called "world religion." But there would be one obvious problem to this utopian view: getting everyone to agree on one faith. Of course, this is impossible, and even though it might seem like a nice idea, it would be rather boring if everyone had the same beliefs. Don't you think?

Most people will favor their own religion. And besides the fact, the religion of peace is not nonsense. Practically, it may not work, but it is not non sense. Onto your question - without being bias: a religion that promotes peace (all, contrary to popular belief), a religion that has some sort of goal at the end of the tunnel to keep people striving for more, something more than in human form and in the present day - something far away in the future in a spiritual form. Note, the spiritual form does not have to be defined. That goes from science to "something higher", to those who believe Jesus is God to those who belief God is almighty and not human.

Every religion's purpose is to spread out to the whole world so this had been introduced already, it is the different groups of people that are not agreeing with that one religion, that is why we have so many religions; not to mention that even if we had one world religion, people will still disagree and make divide themselves into different groups because that is a human nature. Every leader wants to become different and get the followers to follow him.
