I had a bacterial infection of the type once, and I took antibiotics and vaginal cream, as prescribed by the doctor. The doctor told me my husband should also take the same antibiotic (just the pills, not the cream), and we should not have sex during the week we were taking the medication. Because the thing is he is at no risk of getting sick, but he can get the bacteria and then give them back to you, so it never ends.

Not really, bacterial vaginitis is just an excess of the bacteria normally found in the vagina. The bacteria needs a warm, moist, dark place to survive, and after you have sex with your husband, he may get some of the bacteria on himself, but it will die and not harm him.
