I think the best way is for a teenager to find what their good at. That way they have something to raise their self esteem and embrace. Like drawing, writing, perhaps playing or working with animals like at shelters and such. Doing something that makes them feel good about themselves and something they can be proud of despite other things.

Hang out with your family more ( i.e. cousins your age). Joining a gym is great for self esteem you are bettering yourself (physically and mentally) and working out releases endorphines so it helps if you are feeling depressed. Also it will give you something to do after school and you can listen to music while you are doing it. Once you start going for awhile people will start to get to know you and you will meet friends there that are interested in something you are.

beauty is in the eyes of the beholders, remember you are just as good as any one on this earth and when people are trying to put you down possibly they are insecure none of us has ever seen any one perfect (Jesus but i havent seen Him in the flesh)everyone regardless rich-poor,pretty-or ugly has to put there pants on one leg at a time, keep in mind they will not be young forever and i have seen some homely looking people going to school only to see them later as the best looking there is always another that feels like you do /find them they need your support

i was just like that my whole teenage years.i found writing in journals helped me alot, and actually taking pride in things i had, and putting forth an extra effort getting dressed up all girly [or handsomly if you're a dude] and before you know it you'll be getting compliments, and it'll feel great. just keep trying and remember you're NOTalone. email me if you ever need to talk.
