Once you have pulled the lever under the steering wheel column, go to the front of the car and lift the bonnet. It will only open about a centimetre. Look under the bonnet to find a bright yellow lever thing. Push that and you can lift the bonnet.

BE SURE to hold the bonnet up with one hand while lifting the metal rod up and slotting it into the bonnet to hold the bonnet firm.

Check your radiator water, oil level and washer water. If you don't know what you're doing, ask a man at a garage because some of the reservoirs look the same. If you put water into the power steering reservoir you are in the s**t!

It is important to check everything regularly (every couple of weeks). Washer water is important because if you run out of it on the motorway, for example, and crap comes onto your screen, you're in trouble.

as you're sitting in the drivers seat, there should be a little lever under sterring wheel, if the steering wheel moves, put the lever back how you found it and make sure the lever is in tight. You would then be looking towards the right hand side just under the steering wheel column ( where the wheel goes into the car) and the should be a little lever there and you just pull it. If there isn't one there, it will be in the passengers footwell. (Usually only french cars who have the bonnet release on the passengers side)

anyway once you found the lever and pulled it, the bonnet should make a loudish noise, well noticeable anyway. Then you go round to the bonnet and there should be a little catch or something, you slide your hand between the bonnet and the rest of the car and lift the catch and voila the bonnet should be free and will lift right up and you can get to the engine.

when you put the bonnet down, I would suggest putting it gently down on the car and let it rest on the car and then push firmly down, that way it doesn't knacker the catch after a while

Good Luck :)

it all depends what year it is some open with a key where you have to push the ford badge to one side and insert the key unless there is a handle in the car ether under the wheel or in the side of driver or passenger side ether black or red

So. Let me get this straight.
You bought a car, and never looked under the hood before you bought it?

There should be a cable pull just above the brake release. left side somewhere below the dash.
