Lemon Juice is an acidic liquid causing your hair to dry out ( over time ) from the inside out.

That's why people used to use it when they went to the beach, it would dry the hair out and compounded with the suns rays can but not always lighten, light fine hair, to lighter shades.

BUT the results are not predictable!

me a girlfriend did try that when we were in jr high and it worked. we had highlights and stood under the sun or used a hairdryer its the same idea with the SUN IN product. we put the lemon juice in a bottle and sprayed it. what it actually does is the acid in the lemon dissolves the melanin color in your hair and turns it light. we had a little bit of dry hair afterwards with it but we liked our highlights. we both have dark brown hair and it worked too but it took some time and every day during P.E we would use it because we were under the sun. the SUN IN product says you can blow dry your hair and will be able to see results quicker.

If you put lemon juice on your hair before you get in the sun it causes it to get natural blonde high lights like the beach bunnies or surfers. It won't cause any drastic change in one day, though.

lemon juice lightens blonde hair, but it only works if its exposed to the sun (and it does work - personal experience). Tip: if you have lemon juice in your hair and you expose your hair to chlorine then your hair will go green!

It will lighten your hair but it will also dry it out and cause breakage. If you want to lighten up get some streaks and use a good conditioner. You don't want to experiment,it could end badly!
