I respect every religion,

but when I see todays worldly spread terrorism,

the core of the problem is religion. Like john sang if we dont have religion , there is no reason to kill or die for.

Human tragedy or comedy came from religion , I think.

Am I RIGHT?

I don't think he meant it literally, but only that if people chose love over any religious idea the world would improve.

I loved John Lennon, I had his picture plastered all over my bedroom wall many years ago. John Lennon was a truly peaceful and gentle man, who dreamed of a world at peace. And you are right the world is a scary place because of terrorism. Much evil has been done in the name of religion. I am a Christian and shutter at the Crusades. It cause me deep regret that folks were that violent in then name of my Lord. Who I see as the Prince of Peace. Faith has also brought much good it is just that the news doesn't show you that, the media loves to make us tremble in fear. Yes, you are right in part, but if the good of religion had an opportunity to be exposed that might make you feel better. Christians don't like to go around thumping their chest saying, "Oh look at this wonderful thing we have done in the name of our God". Jesus, told us not to be that, because then we have our blessing from man instead of being silent about our good works and receiving a blessing from God. If there were no religion people would fight over the fact of color of skin or territory.

John Lennon was a gifted artist, but that's where his expertise ends. This is a man who ran around his apartment naked and was a bit on the looney side toward the end.

All wars aren't started over religion, most are started over greed for land, oil, power, whatever, though many use the word of God as an excuse.

Now, if you want to get into something in that song actually applying, think about the "no possessions" part of the song, that may really make a difference, no possessions means no greed.

The***PRAYNOGRAPHER*** will now speak. Sir I knew JOHN LENNON. I can't and will not try to speak for him.John was a free thinker. He truly believed that dreaming was the best way to travel.Yes John would always IMAGINE, but unlike most of us, he would follow through, and share his imagination with all of us. His killer was a Christian, that got his happiness from a warm gun. When JOHN LENNON was gunned down we lost a great mind that was always using his fame on behalf of bringing peace to man kind. His death was a plot. JOHN LENNON died as a soldier for peace without a uniform. He was a threat to the dogs of war. When Mr. Lennon spoke people would listen. GIVE PEACE A CHANCE !!

Religion, money, power, greed all contribute to our global problems. You are right, in that it is a vice to encourage people to support a war effort, although it may not be the underlying agenda.

John Lennon, has it right! And his spirit is still alive in the hearts of many!

Have you signed the form to create a world-wide John Lennon Day? I'll try to find the address for you. : )

...I grew up in the 1960's and I was a Beatles fan; consequently I know a lot of stuff about Lennon and the Beatles. He was a dreamer and a talented musician. The Beatles drug use started as early as 1964; (first it was marijuana, later on it LSD and even heroin). The Beatles went over to India and studied Indian religion (Hinduism, I think) with the Yogi, and came back empty (except Harrison kept on with it).
...Lennon did not respect religion; he and his co-horts took unkind shots at Christianity during his life; some of them cost them many fans and resulted in lots of destroyed records, especially in the Bible Belt states. I don't know if he ever called Christianity a crutch, but his "crutch" was illegal drug use. The song "Come Together" (a Lennon-McCartney song) was written to support Dr. Timothy Leary in his presidential campaign (Leary was the college professor who advocated LSD use and coined the phrase 'Tune in, turn on, and drop out'). McCartney publicly admitted several times he used drugs. Harrison and Starr either admitted drug abuse or were jailed for it, at different times in their lives.
...John Lennon was a political radical, too. He was a man with many ideas; unfortunately, he did not understand man's nature and real problem.
...Man's problems do not come from religion; the problem is in man himself. Mankind has this big problem called sin.
...The Bible declares that:
...We are spiritually dead and unable to please God. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
..."The wages of sin is death" - Romans 6:23
...God is holy, cannot tolerate sin, and as a just judge, must punish Exodus 34:7b says, "He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished"
...God's only provision for sinful man is Jesus Christ; He is God in the flesh; He was born to die for our sins, and He was raised on the 3rd day.
...We must come to God by faith, believing on the Lord Jesus Christ alone for our salvation. Do that and one is reconciled to God, and empowered to live for Him.
...Ideas are like noses; everybody's got one. Lennon's idealistic ideas were unworkable - they could not deal with man's sin problem; only Jesus Christ can do to that.
...Acts 16:31 Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.
...Whosoever will, may come.

It people did not hate and kill for religious clashes, they would for other reason. They would have stronger loyalties to their nation, to their ideas on other levels. People don't need an excuse to kill, they only use religion to justify it and make themselves feel that they are doing a noble thing. But one can feel noble for defending ones country, or family, or ideals too.

Why do you look at a sick religion which gives false promises of 72 virgins to kill non-believers - as an excuse to forsake the true Religion -- where the creator created and redeemed disobedient children.

Can you imagine a world without religions to separate humanity and give us reasons to kill one another? Islamic Jihadists and "Onward Christian Soldiers, Marching as to War"?

Dear searching for answers,
How can you respect every religion? Islam is for killing everyone who is not of their religion, Hinduism worships Idles. In the Bible times it was religious leaders who condemned Christ to die. In many cases religion is false. Christianity, the oldest form of religion, beside paganism is a wonderful religion of love and grace and forgiveness.

Selfishness, bias, hatred, predjudice, lack of love and caring and kindness, are the problem! Jesus Christ was not a religion. What this world needs is to go back to its roots, to the beginning. If the world really knew Gods word and obeyed it-to live in Peace with one another, to forgive, to love thy neighbor as thyself, to be content, to guard they lips, to be slow to anger, we would reap His law of Reciprocity- do unto others as you would have them do unto you. To love, to be happy is a choice we each must make. To obey and live in peace is Gods order.
