Have her invite a few friends and take them to a concert of her favorite singer, rent a hotel room for them order some pizza and let them have a blast. This is what we did for are 12 yr. old we went to go see hillary duff( we got the tickets for about $40 a piece). She invited 3 other friends and they had a wonderful time and we took lots of pics and made little scrapbooks for all the girls. She will remember it for ever!!!

Save your money for the PARTY! 15 is not as big as a deal as 16 is to a girl. You want to go overboard for the sweet 16.

Take $100 of your $300 and buy her something that she would really want! Then suggest to her, what would she like to do with the other $200. Put it on a American Express gift card and let it be her decision. She can take her friends out for a great dinner, WITH NO PARENTS! Or with, if she likes. She could go to the mall and blow it all! She can save it for something she wants...

It is a very grown up decision that she will appreciate. Let it be her choice!

Then start saving every penny you can for the sweet 16!

I have to say that $300 is a LOT of money for a birthday party, unless you're also including your gift in that budget. Is there a room in your house where the girls can have a sleep-over (sleeping bags, videos, CDs, dancing, popcorn, games)? If not, and use of the house is totally not in the cards, what about rollerskating, iceskating party or bowling party- on the site of any of these? For that amount of money, you could rent the whole place, get a cake & party gifts for everyone.

Honestly? I'd wait until you're back on your feet and throw her a big party next year. A girl's sweet 16 is supposed to be her biggest year, and if you think the other girls' parties are big THIS year, you haven't seem anything yet. Tell her you're sorry, and let her have a sleepover or take her and a few friends out to a fancy resturant.

Why don't you just take her and a few of her friends out to dinner at a cool restaurant, TGI Friday's maybe. Let them go without adults. They will have a blast. I know that when me, my husband and son go it's less then $40 for dinner. So her and 4 friends should cost about $150 including sodas, dessert and tip. Then take the other $150 for a present.

Get to talk with your daughter,You get tight budget. May be she can wait for next year.( 16 year old was most important )
or just invite her very best friend only.(just few people)have a small party at McDonald or other fast food restatement.I think it may less than $100.

At that age my kids just wanted to hang out, my daughter invited about 2o or so of her friends I supplied hot dogs, snacks, sodas, punch, cup cakes. They had music, played twister and the girls split up in teams with 1 boy (there were more girls then boys) and put makeup on them and then all judged which boy looked better, we took lots of pictures, I had simple prizes for the winning team ...candy!. Also I put up some poster board for them all to write, draw, graffiti on, so that my daughter had some fun "Big" cards (since most lids don't bring gifts anymore)! That's all they needed, they also played hide and go seek the last hour or so while waiting for their parents to pick them up. Simple and fun!

If it is cold enough, see if you can go skating. If it okay to just have a few friends, go see a movie and allow each person a few bucks for popcorn and a drink, or you can go on the age old "cosmic bowling" where they make the bowling ally into a crazy nightclub almost where you bowl among a disco ball, and music videos!

sometimes within your city there is a hall that can be rented very inexpensively...or find a man that belongs to a mens club...italian american club. koc, french club...or the church...there is usually one of the kids that has a brother or cousin that can dj...and decorate and cater yourself...keep it simple..the last party my daughter went to had pizza, soda and strawberries with chocolate for a treat...the most they want is a place to be with ALL thier friends...and loud music...do not be intimidated by friends with money...my parties always were great and not costly but they had fun and that is what they wanted

What about letting her have a few friends over, let them order pizzas, rent some movies and just hang out, or let her pick something that she wants to do. She sounds very mature so understands the money issues.
