i'm pretty sure torrentspy.com isn't legal, but what is the legallity of downloading music or movies, and how easy is it to get caught?

don't know if it matters, but i'm a mac user, and i feel like it is harder for mac users to get caught downloading copywrited material, is this true? i feel like it's true cause mac's don't really get viruses, so how would a company find out if i had music on my computer?

Hi. It is legal to download non-copyrighted material. The music industry is going after 'pirates' and doing it with a vengeance. Current fine (or legal award) is $750 PER DOWNLOADED SONG.

It is kind of hard to say. This is still such a gray area in the legal system. This site offered some more information.
