My front bottom tooth is aching and I have a bump on my chin below the tooth. I noticed the soreness on my chin first and then the tooth pain came on suddenly. I am hurting really bad, I have a dentist appointment tuesday but I don't think I can wait. Help!

Hi there! I seem to be answering a lot of these type questions!! Well teeth are my job but even today I'd a half day and find myself on dental section of answers!

It does sound like an abscess which is an infection on the nerve of the tooth root.. these can be building for a while but suddenly come up suddenly and cause pain and swelling.

The soreness on your chin is classic sign of bacteria build up by an abscess.. tuesday is a while away.

Your dentist will give u antibiotics to clear the infection, probably penicillin But if u are in a position to go to the doctor, or the emergency room of nearest hospital they too can prescribe antibiotics to clear the infection up. Dont worry its common, not serious when treated and easy to treat..Im only suggesting seein a doctor so u can get help for the pain.

Rinse hourly with warm water and salt.Spit it dont swallow. This will draw out infection.

Nuerofen or ponstan forte are good for pain..again the dentist or doctor will give u painkillers or anti-inflammatories.

The tooth may probably have some degree of infection for an abscess to happen so the dentist should deal with this

Follow those suggestions and you'll be ok!!

Sound like you have and infection and will need a root canal. This is not a big deal like everyone makes it out to be..... So don't worry... We just need to get you through until Tuesday when you see your dentist. You can take 800mg of Advil ever 6 hours but no more than that. If it gets really bad you can go to the ER or MD and get an antibiotic that will make the infection go down.
Good luck my dear i see this every day.... I know it hurts. If you get a bump in your gum that is white and looks like a pimple the ER can lance it and release the pressure.

the problem that the tooth must be open at first to be reliefed.. but if that is not a possibility you can take antibiotic and sedative medicine...( spiramycin 750 000 iu + metronidazole 125 mg )... ( 2 tab ) three times aday ... good luck ... but better to hurry to the dentist as soon as possible ....

Call your dentist immediately, you may receive their answering service but leave an URGENT MESSAGE for them to CALL IN a RX to the pharmacy that you use.
This will help with the INFECTION and you will be it a better position to receive whatever treatment plan that is going to be needed.

See reference link below.

Hope this helps!

You have an abcess under your tooth. Go to the ER, they can at least give you something for the pain to hold you over 'till Tues.
