whilst there are 248 positive commandments and 365 negative, bringing the total to 613, not all of these are applicable today. Without a temple, there can't be any offerings, etc. Rabbi Yisroel Meir Kagan, aka the Chofetz Chaim wrote a book, Sefer Hamitzvos Hakotzur, listing those that apply today. For the complete list according to Maimonides, see http://ohr.edu/yhiy/article.php/974

613 commandments, of which 365 are negative (do not do) and 248 are positive (do).
And for the record, the literal transaction of Mitzvot or Mitzvos is Commandments not laws. Laws can be the specifics of a Mitzvah of which there may be many.

there are 613 mitzvot in the torah- 248 positive and 365 negative. however alot of mitzvot are not perfomed today such as sacrifices in the temple. Evry time we do a mirzvah/or a good deed we are bringing the final redemption a little closer!

613 in the Bible. However, every time you do a good deed it is considered to be a mitzvah (singular of mitzvot, of course).
