The virus is still preserved in some laboratories. If it escapes accidentally or falls into the wrong hands, the world can have smallpox again.

I am not sure if the virus is stored somewhere...but it seems plausible...she might be correct. Otherwise it is not possible. BUT in my own opinion AIDS was formed from a mutated gene and so who is to say that decades from now a virus may not mutate and turn into something comparable to smallpox...i know that sounds stupid but it is possible.
