Make sure you have marked your code book in reference
to your state admendments(Supplement) because you
will have to know them.
Read your tables carefully(such as piping support)because you can easily make quick mistakes there.
Important ones I can remember:
Portable Water and protection of.
Sanitary Drainage, you will need to know these tables
2 or 3 on Drainage Fixture Unit Values, cleanouts, stack
sizing.1 was one backwater valves.
Venting is a chapter you will definatly need to know. Here
again the tables are your most help. You will be given a
sample number of fixture and you have to figure out your
trap distance from vent, your vent size, trap and trap arm size ect.
What drain and vent sizes for a typical back to back bath
and as in other questions what is the slope.
They like water heaters and almost any test will hit you on
the the 18" evelation from floor to ignition source if installed in a garage and the protection from car impact,
or if in a concealed space the heater must be supplied with make-up air and access.Direct Vent Heaters.
Read the sections" General " in every chapter because
they refer you to other chapters and tables for such things as installation. That brings me to a main point about taking any code exam. It's not just the questions but how you can find the answers and that's where people forget that all the answers are not in the General Plumbing
Requirements Chapter. The test is not hard if you know where to find the answer. One example is piping protection which is going to refer you to structural
sections in the IRC.I just remembered another.Make sure you know about testing of pipes, drains and such.
The best way I found to take these test is to go through the test and answer the ones you know first and then go back to the others.
Good Luck
