Use rubbing alcohol on each tick, it sufforcates them. Take a pair of tweezers - make sure to get as close to the head as possible and pluck them off. Make sure to flush them.
A preventative measure is to purchase Frontline/Frontline plus or Advantix from you veterinarian. They keep fleas and ticks (Advantix also keeps mosquitos-) away from your dog. Kills them on contact.
After you've removed the ticks have your dog checked by the vet for lime disease or any other illness transported by parasites.
Good Luck

Ticks can kill your dog! You need to have your puppy bathed for fleas and ticks. Also ticks need to be removed with tweezers, and pulled so you hopefully remove the head thats under the skin. After the very important bath, you can topically prevent ticks with either Frontline or Advantage. Best of luck!

if they have alot of them, take them to the vet to be removed properly as they can contract diseases from them. if there ae only one or tow you can remove them yourself, but it needs to be done carefully so that the head doesn't get stuck in your dog. You can get meds at the vet to keep ticks off, but sometimes they don't work and you will still need to check often for ticks. It sounds like you must live in the country or near fields/woods. Try to keep your puppies out of longer grass where ticks tend to lurk.

Depending on how young these pups are you need to be very careful with over the counter treatments for them. You need to pick them off with a pair of tweezers and need to talk to your local vet about it. Frontline is the best thing in the world for ticks and fleas and if the puppies are old enough it will be perfectly safe for them. Please get them treated - they can kill puppies.

hiya you have not said how old they are and where they are been kept,if they are covered in ticks then you have a problem but it can be solved by removing the ticks and then treating the puppies for fleas,ticks and worms and making sure that it doesnt reaccure,hope this helps alittle the ticks can be removed with a tweezers by grabbing the body of the tick and gently but firmly pulling it till it is removed.

you need to have them removed immediately hopefully your dog isn't becoming anemic from the loss of blood,,, if you do not have them removed immediately,,, you could very well be reported for animal abuse and cruelty..... make sure you dog has his Lyme disease vaccination and also have the vet give you some FRONTLINE or something of that sort as a preventative, also do not let them go where ticks are present..

Well if you go to the store and get some puppy fleas and tick soap then that would keep them off but you might have to pick the ones that are there already..although i know that sounds gross it is for your puppy!!!

You can remove the ticks with a tick hook, but you need to be shown how to use it properly. Ask the vet for advice on what product to use to prevent them getting any more;

bathe them with some flea/tick shampoo. you need tho get them off before they embed themselves in the pups flesh. if you find a tick that has burrowed into the flesh to feed, DO NOT pull it out. This will remove the ticks body, but the mouth parts will remain under the skin to become infected. You can try to cover the tick with vaseline to smother it (they will back out on their own) or try a hot match (not still burning) blow the match out & touch it to the ticks body, it will back out of the hole.
