My thumb is swollen and it hurts when I put the SLIGHTEST pressure on it. I think it is infected. What can I do to alleviate the pain?
(just so you know how much it hurts, i can't press the spacebar with my thumb.)
I know I have to go to the doctor, and i have an appointment scheduled, but in the mean time, anyone have any suggestions?
thanks!!

Go to the pharmacy and buy mag salv (magnesium sulfate). Put it on your thumb so that the skin gets more tender and you can pierce it with a clean needle to remove the pus. Note. You need to mix the contents of the bottle well because mag salv tends to precipitate.

I guess it would depend on what you did to make your thumb hurt. Try things that you would put on a swollen body part. Maybe, Ice.

without knowing what you did to it to possibly cause this, I would suggest that you ice it to reduce the swelling/pain. Take some tylenol/ibuprofen till you can see the doc

Maybe typing on the computer to complete strangers asking them for advice isn't the best for your thumb.
Just a hunch.
