For your gaming... your best bet is either:

Downtown: Main Street Station, The Cal, The Fremont, 4 Queens
(( i would avoid the Golden Nugget, a $5 table is a dificult thing to find there ))

Off Strip: Orleans, Gold Coast, Palace Station

You'll be able to find the $5 much more eaiser at these places. The downtown area is perhaps the best of them all on account of the casinos are closer to one another & competition is one of those things when it comes to slot payoffs & good payoff charts for VP.

You have to remember that off-strip places (geared a bit towards seniors & locals) can offer more ---------- they dont have to pay for a 'volcano' or fancy 'fountains'.

*** other things to do ***

peoplewatching - sounds silly, but just sitdown somewhere, you'll be laughing before you know it

red rock canyon - it's a nice getaway from the city

hoover dam - ditto

eating - hit Ellis Island (behind bally's for the cities best bargain of them all) the 4.95 steak special (it's not crap - it's a good meal)

bellagio fountains - free

bellagio conservatory - free

big elvis lounge show (at the Barbary Coast) - free (and this guy is good)

pools

have fun !!!

If you are a $5 gambler - downtown is the most fun. Especially at night when the bands are playing and the light show are on. A choice on the Strip is Casino Royal. They have low-roller tables. The New Frontier sometimes does as well.

For other activities - there is a huge arcade in Showcase mall. For other cheap choices - see the site below.

Great answer from Matthew, can't top that one.

I would stay away from Circus Circus, I lost there and too many people! The smaller casinos to me were the best payouts. Have fun and don't spend all your time gambling, go to some shows and you should look online at shows and at least book one to go to, if not you will go broke lol I won tickets to Splash when I was there it was a great show! I heard from many people Legends is a great show.
Good Luck, and Have a wonderful time.

Plenty to do in VEGAS besides gamble but why say you went to VEGAS unless you can say I GAMBLED IN VEGAS you won't find many 5.00 tables in the mega joints
BELAGGIO/VENETIAN/ETC.VEGAS isn't about gambling that much anymore .If you want to go to a town still about gambling go to RENO.

Go downtown, there are many free shows on the street. Go to the strip and watch the dancing lights. I go to each casino on the stripy, just to see how they look inside, maybe put about 20 dollars in the slots and then go to another. Cesar Place is nice.
