especially right before my period i get very strong urges to cry. i know this can be part of pms but i cannot control them - i've been trying for like 10 years and it seems impossible. if ANY little thing goes wrong, i cry like someone died. i'm like a fountain- it just keeps coming and coming. it causes my boyfriend, mother, friends, and everyone actually to think i am nuts. as if crying over nothing isn't bad enough, my face stays red and my eyes stay puffy for like 24 hours. ive talked to my mother about this and she keeps telling me i have to learn how to control myself BUT I REALLY FEEL LIKE I CAN'T IN THIS DEPARTMENT..and believe me i'm not one to use a cop out but this is something i really have trouble with..any advice? it really is terrible...

Well you Might have depression, or Might be bipolar... or you just might have strong hormonal processes before your period, girls have some scary shifty moods before their time of the month comes, some more and some less.... if it's been going on for 10 years, maybe you're just one of the "more" girls... ask your family for help with not upsetting you before your period?

PS- Lol i'm sorry but can't help thinking "poor thing" it probably looks so funny and cute from the side if you start crying because someone occupied the bathroom xD you deserve a big hug lol =P

Honestly (no BS): I would LOVE to be able to uncontrollably cry. I am a musican, and have had to take meds for my Bipolar disorder, which seems to "lockup" my emotions, which really sucks to the max. i mean, if something truly heartbreaking happens in my life, then I will be able to cry. But I wish I could cry as easily as I used to, and yes, I am all Man. :) It's funny, that even with things like this, the grass is not greener on the other side. I wish I could cry more easily and more often. Truth.

Ya know some of us are just so sensitive. My 7yr old calls me "cry baby" because I cry at anything (but I am bi-polar)
I don't know if your feeling depressed which could make you do this uncontrollable crying
are you feeling sad often, not happy about yourself.....could be depression then

Like I said you could just be very sensitive I cry if I see someone else cry and I may not even know then.
Oh and that show "extreme makeovers" forget it I cry the whole time
Its hard to control it but it just takes time....I still tear up

You definitely should be discussing this with a doctor. You may well have a depressive disorder triggered by the hormonal changes of your menstrual cycle. There should be a variety of things that can be try to ease or eliminate your suffering.

Seems to me that your family could be more supportive. I am sure that you wouldn't be dong this if you could help yourself. Why not see a psychiatrist and see if he/she can help?
