I blush a lot, and so I looked it up just today actually. It was something I've always wondered about... for about 6 years I've wondered why people blush. I blush about pretty much everything. It's very embarrassing in itself too. It said basically people blush because the people they feel like they've done something abnormal and they want to fit in with the people around them, and they feel like they just messed that up. And blushing is also a sign of social phobia or something. Anyway, I can't remember because it was hours ago and I looked up the link but couldn't find it. It did say something about people blushing because they feel they brought negative attention to themselves, which you mentioned.
I blush all the time, I blush when I talk to people, I blush when I mess something up, I just always blush. My thoughts when I see someone blushing is... I feel pretty bad for them because I know how bad they must feel. And my thoughts on myself blushing... I wish I wouldn't do it, because that just makes me feel even more embarrassed.

Yes! I totally feel your pain! I am a blusher too and I cant control it EVER! It makes me soo much more self conscious only because I dont know when it will happen. I just feel like my face is getting hot under the ctrangest circumstances sometimes. I've tried to learn how to control it, and I've gotten a tad bit better but Its still very hard. Personally when I see someone else blush, I think its cute. Its does seem to come across as a vulnerability though. Sometimes I'd just like to wear a mask so I'm not so transparent to people!

Blushing happens anytime someone experiences a certain degree of anxiety or mental stress. Some people turn red around crushes, others when they're embarassed, some people when they're afraid, some even when they're angry. It's all about what causes them stress. That is different for all people.
This is all just a reaction of the 'sympathetic nervous system,' or the fight or flight system' of the body. When the body becomes stressed, it reacts by increasing oxygen intake for the body and blood output to the body.
We see a certain amount of this process when people turn red. That's just the blood vessels dilating, or expanding. When this happens, blood is closer to the surface of the skin. This manifests as a redness to the complexion. It is most noticable in the face, because of the sheer amount of blood that circulates to the head.

I think embarrassment brings on my blushing. I don't blush when i think of a guy or I check out a nice looking guy who returns a look. I just smile big!
However, if my shy reaction is brought out by an embarrassing moment, I feel the blush coming on.

It is involuntary and goes away with age for most people. It is natural and part of growing up. since people cannot control it, one should not make fun of others who are experiencing it when situations get a little stressed. You should hope others refrain from teasing you about it too. If they don't, they should and you must just laugh it off. Wave your hand vigorously in front o f your face and laugh. Make a joke of it.

Blushing can be very embarasing, since it sort of gives a window into your soul and let others know what affects you. I don't know if there is a cure for it, unless of course you become more self assertive.
