Nope, they are talking about two different weapons system there. I can see how they look alike at first. The denial weapon used by the US Airforce and army is a large micor wave. The other device is actually an explosive devise that uses metal particles that burn in the absence of air. If you read on little the doctors have found little bits of metal as well as a light dusting of some unknown chemical inside the bodies of the burn victims. So they are recieving internal burn injuries with a light to small amount of wounds. The denial system only uses readiated heat as a 30 degree span so if you feel hot you move left or right to get out of its path. the heat is so intense that you can only stnd there for a moment before you are compeled to move.
Seems to me the Israles may have some sort of radialogocal explosive device like a small dirty clamore mine. Good catch however keep me posted on what you read. Bob

The system you mention in your FIRST reference (Vehicle-Mounted Active Denial System: V-MADS) is NOT the same system mentioned in your Second reference (Dense Inert Metal Explosive - DIME)... I add the link to GlobalSecurity.org's information on DIME: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/munitions/dime.htm
TWO distinctly different weapons systems: V-MADS is non-lethal crowd dispersal system, and DIME is an explosive designed for minimum blast radius.
I'll also point out that the Guardian article is mere conjecture... the information there is the opinions of Palestinian doctors and gathered by reporters who are Socialists.
I'll agree that perhaps Israel WAS using DIME in Gaza... fine... it's NOT proscribed by international law.
