HI Yes, when will it be considered a victory in Iraq? Let me see, good question? When did we consider, we had a victory against Germany or Japan in WW2? When the countries surrendered, (unconditionally), leaders punished or dead, or when the troops came home? The last item, troops coming home, seems today a major element of this war? Do you know, we still have troops stationed in Germany, and Japan, and it is 62 years since that war ended! Yet, you will not hear anyone say that we didn't win that war! History books tell us that in Japan, even after we dropped two atomic bombs and destroyed two Japanese cities
with most of their people, there were Japanese military leaders there that wanted to fight to the death. Our military made estimates, that it would cost, in American casulties, over 1,000,000 if we had
to invade the main islands in Japan! Those bombs, prevented having to invade Japan! I guess, you could say victory was declared when the peace treaties were signed! When did we win the cold war with the USSR? When they gave up! No treaty was signed there? We have a War with Drugs, been declared in
the 80's, when will we have victory there? Probably killed more of our people than 10 Iraqs, by far? The War against Terrorism, when can we say we won it? I guess from the Radical Terriorists goals
..when we are all dead, or converted?
Sorry, you did ask about Iraq? OK, Saddam is dead. His murdering sons are dead? Saddam's statues have been toppled.
A new government has been formed, free elections, Iraq security forces are being trained, attempts are being made to share the vast Iraqi oil revenues with all of the people in Iraq, including the Sunnies! But, we read that our people and theirs are still being killed. (Suicide bombers, attacks) There are a lot of people in the region who don't want a government of the Iraqi people to survive? Why, freedom might come to their country next? What people don't want to live free? I say, we have suceeded
in our mission in Iraq? We have let the terrorists know, that Uncle Sam isn't a "Paper Tiger"! That, we are willing to place our lives on the line and fortunes too, I am sure, that came as a big shock to Saddam, bin Laden, and all of the terrorists who
were convinced that we were all cowards, in this country!
Here is one for you to think about? If Saddam didn't have WMD
then why did he not welcome the UN Inspectors with open arms?
He was either too stupid, or he thought the world was going to let him do his thing, and not press it? If he had, he would still be in power!

Um, hello? Saddam and his cronies are all Christmas ornaments now. Victory is swinging in the breeze.
Corey: WOW! Quite informative. Take that, you liberal anti-war pansies. You get best answer in my book. And don't forget, Saddam DID have WMD. Right before the war started, we captured a shipment of aluminum rods used for enriching uranium headed to Iraq. What else to do, Saddam was clearly playing with nuclear weapons, which he would have used on who? Us. We did the right thing, we're still doing the right thing, end of story. And yes, we are winning.

I am becoming convinced that Iraq is so full of backwards, camel riding, low life scumbags and radical Islamists, that it is a lost cause. Its a civil war waiting to be unleashed. A different president or change in US leadership will not change the root cause.

The fact that many Americans DO NOT EVEN KNOW if its a defeat or victory kind of scares me. I don't know if its a victory or defeat either. Its somewhat both. Its a victory b/c we finally got Bin Laden. But its a defeat b/c it cost us like freaking 10 years and trillions of dollars. I think the real question is, was it worth it? If you think it was worth it, then hell its a victory! if you don't think it was worth it, then its a defeat.

Success will be defined as the Iraqis ability to secure the peace and stabilize their country. Hopefully, the Sunni, Shiites, and Kurds will all work together.
