First off, let me clarify. For all of those in NJ who know how stricty they are enforcing the provisional license because of recent events, you will understand what i mean. I was ticketed for having more than the restricted 1 family and one friend in the car while driving with a prov. license. Although i am 18, which makes me eligable for a "full" no restricted license, i had not found time to get to the DMV. Now i noticed that they put my last name in the Initial area. Does this qualify for a voided ticket. And if not, i still have not recieved an answer on how much this fine would be, or if anyone thinks there might be some leniancy because of my being 18. Oh yeah, i had 2 friends in the car instead of the restricted 1 family and one friend.

Go to the judge and ask him if you could some a few hours of community service (have a place picked out and arrangments made before you see the judge) since you are 18 and eligible for a license without restrictions. Maybe he won't give you any fine at all if you tell him you're willing to take some responsibility for not getting the license thing taken care of. I think any fair judge would be understanding.

Most states with graduated license laws that are linked to your age will consider your age at the time of the violation. The fastest way to clear this up would be to go to the Court Clerk's office at the court that has jurisdiction. If the cop improperly wrote the ticket because of your age it will be tossed.

Your local DMV office can probably assist as well. Ask to speak to a supervisor and have them show you the relevant law as it applies to your situation. While you're there, get your full license so you don't get dinged again by another cop who doesn't know the law.

I am not from NJ, but look on your license. It may say "provisional license until the driver turns 18" or something along those lines.
Look at that, then go to the DMV and get your unrestricted license ASAP. Let the court know of the situation...tell the truth, and you may be able to get the ticket dismissed.

My previous answer still stands. Choice, and consequence. Yes, you're 18. Yes, you could have the full license. No, you didn't bother to go and get it, and then violated the rules for the class you had. Yes, I know all about graduated licenses, many states have gone to them.

Instead of making excuses, pay the fine and do the right thing from now on.

The police are not above the regulation. they should obay all the policies and policies with regard driving. In an emergency, they could be waiting to take a pink visitors mild as proceed with warning, whether no longer endanger different street clientele, mutually with pedestrians. All police automobiles, to the friendly of my information, are geared up with arms loose communications, or a 2d officer as passenger to act as navigator by skill of telephone links. There must be no reason for any police officer to apply a cellular cellular together as driving.
